13 best adapter ring for canons
An adapter ring for Canon cameras, in the context of camera accessories and photography, is a device that allows you to mount lenses with one type of lens mount onto a Canon camera body with a different lens mount. These adapter rings are used to expand the compatibility of lenses and camera bodies. Here's what you should know:
Lens Compatibility: Adapter rings are primarily used when you have lenses with a lens mount that doesn't match the native Canon lens mount on your camera body. For example, if you have lenses from another camera manufacturer (e.g., Nikon, Sony, Pentax) or vintage lenses, you can use an adapter ring to attach them to your Canon camera.
Mount Types: Adapter rings are available for various lens mount types, such as Nikon F-mount, Sony E-mount, Pentax K-mount, and many more. The adapter ring has a mount that matches your lens and another mount that matches your Canon camera body.
Manual Focus and Aperture: In most cases, when using an adapter ring, you may lose certain automatic functions like autofocus and automatic aperture control. You will typically need to focus and adjust the aperture manually on the lens itself. Some adapters include electronic contacts that allow for limited electronic communication between the lens and the camera body, but full automation may not be possible.
Crop Factor: When using adapter rings to attach lenses from other systems to your Canon camera, consider the crop factor. The crop factor can affect the effective focal length of the lens, potentially changing the field of view compared to using it on its native camera system.
Quality and Compatibility: It's important to choose a high-quality adapter ring to ensure a secure and precise connection between the lens and the camera body. Poor-quality adapters may introduce play, affecting image sharpness and stability. Additionally, some adapters may not be compatible with certain lenses due to physical limitations.
Tilt and Shift Adapters: Some adapter rings are designed to provide tilt and shift functionality. These adapters allow for creative control over the plane of focus and perspective, which can be particularly useful for architectural and landscape photography.
Maintain Lens Characteristics: When using adapter rings, you can enjoy the unique characteristics of lenses from other systems on your Canon camera, such as vintage or specialty lenses known for their distinct optical qualities.
In summary, an adapter ring for Canon cameras is a valuable accessory that expands your lens compatibility by allowing you to mount lenses with different lens mounts onto your Canon camera body. It's important to choose the right adapter for your specific lens and camera combination, and be aware that you may need to use manual settings for focus and aperture control when using adapter rings.

A T-Ring is one of the first accessories you will need if you want to take pictures through a telescope or spotting scope. If you have a Canon EOS camera body, the Celestron EOS T-Ring is the one for you. To use the Canon EOS T-Ring, remove the lens from your camera, and attach the T-Ring in its place, just as you would if you were mounting a lens. The telescope side of the T-Ring has threads that will accept a variety of camera adapters, including the Celestron T-Adapter or Tele-Extender. The adapter you choose depends on the type of photography you wish to do. You can take pictures of terrestrial and/or celestial scenes by using a simple T-Adapter to turn your telescope or spotting scope into a large telephoto lens. The #93633-A T-Adapter is the best choice if you own a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with standard rear cell threads. If you have a refractor, the Universal T-Adapter (#93625), with its 1-1/4” barrel insert, is available. There are also special T-Adapters for the EdgeHD optical system: one for the 8-inch EdgeHD (#93644) and one for the 9.25, 11, and 14-inch EdgeHD (#93646). Prime focus photography is popular for short exposure images of terrestrial objects as well as celestial objects like the Moon. If you need extra magnification beyond that which your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope provides, a Tele-Extender (#93643) will allow you to insert an eyepiece inside the barrel before attaching it to the telescope. A Tele-Extender is used most often for high power images of the Moon and the planets.

Question: | Must I have THIS adapter AND Celestron 93625 T-adapter to connect to Celestron Ultimate 80 spotting scope? Thanks |
Answer: | http://www.celestron.com/browse-shop/astronomy/astroimaging-accessories/t-rings-and-adapters/t-ring-for-canon-eos-camerayou need ITEM # 93419 from celestron |
Question: | Will this work with a Nikon Camera |
Answer: | No, the model 93419 only works with Canon cameras. For a Nikon, you would need the model 93402 T-Ring, also carried by Amazon. |
Question: | What material is this made from? Metal or plastic |
Answer: | It is a lightweight metal. |
Question: | Will this fir a Canon Rebel T3i |
Answer: | It's an EF mount, meaning I line it up with the red dot to put it on my T4i. In other words, yes it will work on your T3i and every other Canon DSLR (1D through 700D and T2i through T5i at least). I don't think it would work on the EOS M because that's a mirrorless and has a different mount. |

Product description
Increase the function of your digital SLR camera by adding a T-mount adapter. The Opteka T-Mount (T2) allows you to mount a T-Mount lens to your Canon EOS camera body. Besides for making financial sense, this allows you to use your favorite lens across different camera platforms. It also allows you to attach your SLR-type camera to a telescope. The lens adapter is designed to fit securely to the lens, yet can still be removed easily when not needed. Although the lens will fit physically, autofocus, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), and other functions dependent on communication between camera body and lens will be disrupted by the lens adapter. You will need to focus manually, and to set exposures manually or meter in aperture priority (stop-down) mode. If the lens does not have a manual aperture collar, the aperture will be stopped down to its smallest f/stop. Focusing to infinity is retained.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this extension fit on my Canon Rebel t3i |
Answer: | Miss: Alyssa C. My one and only experience has been with the Canon Rebel T3. However, on 30Jan2014 I bought a wide angle lens for my T3. The lens was for a T3i. It fitted just right. It works great in photography involving flowers. |
Question: | What will happen to the picture quality if the "inner glass" is removed? Also, whats the difference between this one and the other ones on the market |
Answer: | You can actually remove the glass in this one, and replace it as needed. You would probably want to have a rubber lens removal tool handy (this lets you unscrew and replace the lens). My experience in shooting without the lens was an extremely blurry image. |
Question: | Does this mount directly to the body? I have a macro lens that I just bought but it is one the screws on to an adapter. Will this work |
Answer: | It doesn't fit directly onto the body of the Canon EOS M. YOu will need the mount adapter EF EOS M. I bought this with the 0.43x wide angle macro lens 58mm that screws onto the front of my lens. It dose not fit the wide angle macro lens that I bought with it. The wide angle macro lens fits onto the front of my Canon EFS 55-250mm lens. I bought it so I would have the option since it is cheap enough and it gives different results. But since it is manual and it doesn't communicate with my camera, the EOS M sends out a message that a lens is not attached to the camera. However, if you can get it to work with your camera, you can get real close with your zoom lens. |
Question: | can i use it on canon 5d mark ii |
Answer: | Yes, but most of us bought it because we can't afford a 5D Mark II. You'd probably be happier with the $250-$300 active extensions, which allow focus and aperture changes with it attached. (this cheap metal tube does not) |

Product description
This sturdy metal T-Adapter is the accessory of choice if you’d like to attach an SLR or DSLR camera to the rear cell threads of a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope for prime focus photography. To get started, you’ll need the appropriate T-Ring for your camera body (#93402 for Nikon & #93419 for Canon EOS). Remove the lens from your camera and attach the T-ring in its place. Since the T-ring is camera-brand specific, it will snap right on just like a lens. Next, remove the diagonal and visual back from the rear cell of your telescope. Screw the Celestron T-Adapter onto the rear cell threads until secure. Now, thread the T-ring & camera onto the T-Adapter. That’s all there is to it. The camera is now using your telescope as a giant telephoto lens. The magnification will depend on the telescope’s focal length. For instance, a 300mm camera lens is considered to be pretty powerful, right? Well, if you are using an 8” SCT at prime focus, you’ve got yourself a 2000mm lens with a lot of light-gathering capability! Prime focus photography is popular for short exposure images of terrestrial objects as well as celestial objects like the Moon. If you want to do longer exposures of deep sky objects with this method, we suggest using a separate guidescope or off-axis guider and an equatorial mount.
- The Celestron T-Adapter attaches an SLR or DSLR camera to a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope for prime focus photography
- Threads on to the rear cell of Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes
- T-threads accept camera brand specific T-Ring (sold separately)
User questions & answers
Question: | which set i should buy for my nikon d |
Answer: | This part will work but you need the t adapter and the nikon mount as well. |
Question: | Will this fit a legacy C |
Answer: | It should, It lists the SCT 14 as being compatible. Call Celestron if not sure. |
Question: | Will This work on my Celestron C6? Will it allow me to move the camera to take vertical shots and lock it in |
Answer: | yes it should, its universal to celestron telescopes..Im looking at mine now, and it seems to be universal, did you get your t-ring...the t-ring will allow the camera to be attached. I know I forgot the t-ring when I got my adaptor..My telescope is the C8, so it should work.. let me know, but get the t-ring, it goes by camera model.. Like mine is a Cannon, so I had to get a Cannon t-ring that attaches to the adapter...it also only works if your able to remove your leses from your camera, there is another mount that you can use if your using a point and shoot camera.. most sincerely,Lizzy |
Question: | I want to understand one thing, what is the magnification that I will get from this T adaptor with my Canon 650D |
Answer: | When talking about photography the proper term is not magnification, but scale factor. Scale factor is a linear function of focal length alone, which is a property of the optics you connect this to. Sometimes "magnification" is rated in terms of the ratio of the focal length of telescope to a 50 mm lens. If your telescope has a focal length of 900 mm and an f-ratio of 10, (90 mm, f/10) then your "magnification" is 900/50 = 18 times! What you can see will depend on the pixel pitch of your camera, the "seeing" (atmospheric conditions) on the night you go out, and critically, on how well you can focus. Start out with the moon, and practice focusing! Good luck, and clear skies! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a clear piece of plastic or glass inside of ring |
Answer: | No. this is just an adapter ring that connects to camera lens on one side and allows the right size other lenses--polarizer, macro, filters, ect -- to attach to the other side. allowing a camera to use different mm lenses or allowing a camera that has no screw threads to add different lenses. i have a SX60 HS and it works fine. i suggest screwing the new lens on the adapter first, then adding to camera. |
Question: | My canon sx-530-hs has a 50x 15 lens. will the kiwifotos 58mm aluminum lens filter adapter ring fit it |
Answer: | Bought this adapter for my SX 60 HS works so much better than either of the plastic ones that broke or fell off! I believe the 60 is just an upgrade to the 530, they both take 58mm filters. |
Question: | This goes on the camera very well. however i put a uv filter on yit and i can't get it off the adapter to change filters. any suggestions |
Answer: | I guess the filter is screwed in too tight on the adapter,to remove the filter, I would suggest you to buy a filter wrench which would help you unscrew the filter more easier. |

Introduction:
There is no ROM connection on the ring so diaphragm control of the lens is set manually. It is possible to use Macro rings and other accessories
Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, or any other functions will not operate correctly while using this adapter.
In this case "stop-down mode" will need to be used when metering since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body.
You can shoot with manual mode or aperture priority mode.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it work on sony a6000? it has the sony e mount |
Answer: | Since the a6000 has the same mechanical mount (Sony e-type) and the same size sensor (Sony APS-C) as my NEX-7 camera, the adapter will function exactly the same way as on my NEX-7, which is to say, "quite well".The following does not apply to this shopper's question but, as an aside, readers should note there are some Sony e-Mount cameras with APS-C sensors and some Sony e-Mount cameras with full-frame sensors and some Sony e-Mount camcorders with Super-35-sized sensors. Whilst this adapter will connect old Canon FD lenses to any of these cameras, keep in mind those *lenses* must be large enough for the sensor in the camera, or the sensor will not receive full coverage. Full-frame sensors with e-Mount adapters for various old mounting systems might connect to any given lens, but full-frame cameras will require full-frame lenses (lenses sized for 35-mm film or larger) to ensure adequate coverage. Be aware of this if you want to upgrade your camera to a bigger sensor and so-far you've been adapting a mixed collection of smaller-format glass. For bigger sensors, the lens matters, too; not just the adapter. |
Question: | Does this have a removable lock pin |
Answer: | Doesn’t look like it’s removable. If you are referring to the pin in the collar that allows you to control the aperture opening settings. You might be able to break it off or pull it out permanently. |
Question: | will this work on a7sii |
Answer: | yup~perfect work on any Sony E-Mount mirrorless(APSC & Fullframe) with Manual Focus FD lenses~^ _ ^ |
