Step 1 - Checking the dust on the sensor

Before cleaning the image sensor, take a picture and check that the image sensor is clean or not.

Shoot a picture of a subjest with even brightness and color throughout the entire image such as a solid white subject. (white paper or a wall, etc.) See the following "Shooting requirements"for how to set when shooting.

Step 2 - Shooting requirements

Step 3 - If dust appears in the image

The image appears flipped so any dust on the image sensor will appear on the opposite side.

Step 4 - Clean the appearance of the camera

Clean the appearance of the camera with a blower. Then, in order to prevent dust from re-entering the inside of the camera, the camera is cleaned with a blower while facing down.

Step 5 - Preparing the camera

Perform the following to prepare the camera for image sensor cleaning.

1, Turn your camera off and remove the lens.

2, Turn your camera on.

3, Perform the camera menu operarions to prepare the image sensor for cleaning.

*See the camera operating manual for details on menu operations. Shutter curtain opens and the image sensor becomes visible.

Step 6 - Cleaning the stamp surface

Be sure to remove dust and oils from the stamp surface with the included cleaning sheet before cleaning.

Lift the protective cover and be sure to use an unused area of the cleaning sheet to clean the stamp surface. If a portion that was used to clean the stamp surface is reused, dust and oils from the cleaning sheet may adhere to the stamp surface.

When there are no unused portions left on the sheet, peel the used sheet off and use a new sheet.

When cleaning the stamp surface, please it against the cleaning sheet. Also, tilt the cleaning stick slightly and press the sides against the cleaning sheet and clean the sides.

Step 7 - Clean the image sensor

Insert the cleaning stick into the camera and repeat the steps below to clean.

1, Gently press the stamp surface against the image sensor.

2, Pull the cleaning stick straight up and remove from the camera.

3, Clean the stamp surface with the cleaning sheet.

4, Insert the cleaning stick into the camera.

5, Gently press the stamp surface against another part of the image sensor.

Step 8 -Finish cleaning

*Remove the cleaning stick completely from the camera and set the main swith to OFF.

*The camera turns off, the shutter curtain closes and the millor lowers.

*Be sure to place the cover on the stamp surface when finished cleaning.

Clean the lens surface on the lens mount side as well.

Step 9 -Taking a picture

Repeat steps 1 to 3

Step 10 - Checking

Check on a computer:

Transfer the images to your comuter, display at full size (100%) and check if there is any dust in the image.

Check on the camera monitor:

It can be checked on the camera monitor. Enlarge the image to 2.0 times when displaying in playback mode and scroll vertically/horizontally to check.
