First is a voice warning message, that tells solicitors to leave, and tell legitimate callers to come in by pressing 0. The second line of defense is SENTRY's Black List function. You can put any number on sentry's caller id list to the Black List. How does the Sentry work? The Sentry uses the caller id from your phone service provider to screen all incoming calls. During an incoming call, the Sentry will compare the CID with the system’s accept and reject list. If the caller id matches a phone number on the accept list, the call will come through and ring all your telephones continuously. If the phone number is on the reject list, the phones will ring once and the Sentry will immediately terminate the call. The unlisted callers will receive the Sentry’s outgoing message, “If you are a telemarketer or solicitor of any purpose, please hang and remove our phone number from your list. Otherwise, press 0 and leave a message after the beep. Thank you.” The caller’s phone number will be automatically added to the accept list when the caller dials 0, and the Sentry will ring up to 9 times(not the phones). If the call isn’t answered within the 9 rings, the Sentry will emit a beep and the caller can leave a 20 second message on the Sentry. The screener will play the OGM twice and terminate the call if the 0 is not pressed. *Note: The call can be intercepted during the screening and after the dialing of 0 when the Sentry rings.

Question:	When a number is already on the whitelist and that number calls in again, does the Sentry ring in addition to my phone, or does only my phone ring
Answer:	The short answer for the Sentry V3 is that only the phone rings and not the Sentry regardless of settings discussed below.To go a bit deeper into the topic, I do not want the Sentry to ring ever while it is doing its work. To aid in this, there are two options that can be activated. First the number of rings for a blocked call can be set to zero. (Push and hold the RINGER key until ALLOW 1 RING shows. Release and push again to change to 0 rings. Press DEL/EXT to save.) I keep mine set to 0. Second the Sentry ringer can be turned off. (Press and release the RINGER button. This will show the current setting for the ringer. Press and release the RINGER button to change. Press the DEL/EXT to save.) I keep mine set to OFF. I only have white list numbers set on my Sentry V3. With the above settings the unit works silently and has blocked several ROBO calls in silence. The white list numbers just come through as desired.BTW: I have VOIP with a VTECH phone and they seem to be compatible. I an running the full house telephone wiring through the Sentry after unplugging the connection to the outside wiring at the ATT box. I have also had a princes touchtone phone plugged and it worked fine in the mix.
Question:	When entering a white list number can a name also be entered at the same time? I'd like to set this up using first names or nicknames only
Answer:	Yes. The sequence is this. After screen is at "base - idle", Press and hold "accept" A dotted line will appear. Enter tel number. Press "accept" again. Then enter desired nick name. If error is spelling, tap delete key to erase backwards. When finished, press and hold accept key until word "saved" appears. If you fail to press and hold accept at the end, your entire entry will disappear. Then you can check white list to double check that it was not entered correctly, then delete that entry in the white list, and start again. I don't believe this nickname will appear when the person calls. It just appears in the white list.
Question:	What is the difference between Sentry 3.0 and Sentry 3.1? I ordered 3.1 but received
Answer:	I cannot give a technical reply but can give my own experiences. I first received the 3.0 model. It had volume problems and the outgoing message and the incoming messages were not audible. Plus the volume could not be adjusted. I contacted the company and arranged for a return and replacement. The replacement was the 3.1 model and I have had no problems with it. The arrangement of buttons is different and I think the 3.1 version is a little easier to use. You still cannot adjust the volume but the new machine is just fine. If you go to the Company website and check out the user manual it shows both versions, They appear to be technically identical but I am not sure that is the case. I suggest you call the company. They were easy to deal with in my experience.
Question:	Does the Sentry 3 run of mains power, or a transformer, or the phone line, or is it battery powered? Many thanks
Answer:	The Sentry 3 uses telephone line power as well as 3 AAA batteries to augment the line power. No AC adapter/power supply. I believe the memory is non-volatile so if you unplug it and remove the batteries, you won't lose your stored numbers but I'm not absolutely sure. Anyway, the batteries are there to augment available line power capacity for operational reliability e.g. if you have several telephone devices loading down the line when a call comes in the Sentry 3 won't momentarily blink out. (I'm using the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries for good measure. Slightly higher natural voltage and significantly greater capacity, shelf life and load/drain life. I'm hoping to find that these will only need to be changed once a year at least and maybe even once every two years or more but we'll find out!)

Answer:	We bought this call blocker and it did not work correctly. I was blocking numbers that I needed. I would not recommend this Call Blocker!!

Answer:	The caller id on your phone will only show the unblocked numbers and numbers you may have blocked on the phone itself such as some vtechs. what the phone will block is limited. The call log on this device is a duplicate of what is on your phone since the call has to go through this blocker first. You then go down that log and block whatever numbers you choose. After that those numbers will never show on your phone again.

Answer:	Hi, Please connect the call blocker to your extension in parallel. Then turn on 1 ring on device. Press NO CID/BACK for 3 seconds, then use UP arrow to toggle 0 ring to 1 ring. Press BACK when down.
Question:	How to hook up this blocker on my comcast landline
Answer:	I didn't unplug landline from wall..I unplugged the wire (that ran from the phone jack on the wall to my landline phone) --from the phone. I inserted it into the right side jack on the call blocker. The short wire that came with the blocker, I inserted one end on the left side jack on call blocker and the other end in the jack on telephone that I had just re-routed to the blocker.

How to add numbers to blacklist?

To add an incoming call to the blacklist, press the red BLOCK button on the call-blocker and hang-up.

If answering an incoming call on a remote hand-set, press “*” and hang up. “SAVE-SUCCEED” will show on the display.

Add missed calls to blacklist. Press UP/DOWN arrow to view recorded calls. Press the “BLOCK” button to add a displayed number to the blacklist.

To add a telephone number to the blacklist manually, using the hand-set, press asterisk key twice, enter number, press # key to exit. (** + phone number + # ). “SAVE-SUCCEED” will show in the display.

Note: Press * on your handset, press UP/DOWN arrow on call blocker rather than handset.
