That is quite a bit of power unless you have some other high drawing devices (laser printer, hair dryer) plugged in as well.

Answer:	It is -0- joule and has no surge protection. it is not a surge protector. It is an extension cord; aka "power strip" which offers zero surge protection. it does however have overload protection of 1250 watts if someone were to plug a few power hungry devices into the extension cord which go over the 1250 watt rating on this extension cord, then the protection circuitry would trip to prevent an overload and you would then need to flip the switch on the extension cord and of course, limit the number of things you plug into it. Thus, this extension cord is just that - an extension cord with circuit protection to the device itself should someone plug in too many devices into it that exceed the safety rating of a maximum of 1250 watts. it has absolutely nothing to do with surge suppression. Reading through many comments here it is so surprising how many people think this extension cord is a surge suppressor with a joule rating which IT IS NOT. It is a nice quality extension cord though as I just bought one two days ago and am going to order two more. The specifics of this extension cord are clearly listed in the product description if people would only read. Hope this might help others as well as David A Coughlin.
