Answer:	Yes, each comes with a screw. You will need to remove, and save, the screw from your existing face plate. The surge protectors have the screw already in them to go where the face plate's screw was. Be sure to tighten the protector's screw to keep it secure.

Answer:	I did not remove the face plate; just plugged this directly into my outlet. The screw IS removable. It is as long as the prongs are that fit into the outlet if that makes sense.
Question:	is the mounting screw long enough to meet the outlet with or without the face plate? And if not is the screw removable
Answer:	I don’t see why not. The outlets are all grounded (three pronged in laymen’s terms). If you can plug the sub woofer in a regular wall outlet it should work in this. The only problem might be if the sub woofer plug is bigger then a normal sized plug. If it’s a wide plug or a square/rectangle adapter type plug it might overlap one of the other outlets blocking you from using it. If you’re going to be using this for multiple big/power adapter type plugs they make large power strips with USB outlets and the electric outlets are spaced further apart to accept the bigger plugs. Answer:	All power for this device comes from the TOP outlet of your receptacle -- so if that is switched then all outlets on this device will be switched (or if your bottom outlet is switched then all outlets on this device will NOT be switched).
Question:	What are the actual dimensions of this unit
Answer:	My outlets are flush with the cover plate surface. Both the outlet and cover plate surfaces stand proud of the wall surface about 3/16". After I remove the center screw from the cover plate , install the new wall plug adapter into the original plug [with or without the original wall plate] the new wall plug adapter does not contact the wall surface. It is about 1/8" to 3/16" gap between the wall and the rim of the new wall plug adapter. I don't like this because the result is a wiggly assembly, does not feel solid or secure even though it is firmly screwed into the old, pre-existing outlet. It the new wall plug adapter had a deeper recess on the back [wall] side it would not have this gap and would feel much more secure.

Question:	how do you properly install these with the ground
Answer:	These can't be "properly" installed, because that would imply the screw going through the adapter's ground tab was actually grounded. These adapters are used in cases where a modern 3 prong device needs to be plugged into an old 2 prong outlet. 2 prong outlets are a thing of the past. When they were installed only a line and neutral wire was run to them. There was no ground wire back then. Your outlet box may be metal (surely it is if it still has a 2 prong receptacle in it) but the metal is not grounded to anything, except in the very unlikely scenario where there are metal conduit runs connecting the boxes to the main panel. So when you run that cover screw through the adapter tab you aren't grounding the adapter. In the event of a device malfunction such as an internal short, stray current won't be able to find ground and therefore the circuit breaker or fuse won't trip. If stray current finds neutral inside the device it should trip the circuit breaker or fuse, but that is not how all shorts happen. Grounded areas inside three prong devices help minimize shock and fire hazards when hooked to a properly grounded 3 prong outlet. Using these adapters is a compromise between convenience and safety. I wouldn't recommend it if you are highly concerned about safety. You can replace the outlet with a 3 prong GFCI outlet (only hooking up your line and neutral wires since you don't have a ground) and apply a (often included) label that lets people know the outlet's ground terminal is not hooked up eg "this outlet is not grounded". This will provide a higher level of safety against device shorts and overcurrent than this 3 to 2 prong adapter.

Question:	Are these outlets tamper resistant
Answer:	This plug is the standard US voltage 110-125V/15A. Normally it is ok, please check the voltage and power of your appliance when you use the plug.

Answer:	It sticks out almost 1.5 inches from the wall. On top it is over a half inch from the top of the cover plate. I hope this helps.

Answer:	The specs are listed under "technical details". It is basically flat against the wall. The pictures on the listing show exactly how it is installed. I have a couch pushed against mine. Before I installed this anytime the couch shifted it would knock the lamps that were plugged in out of the sockets. Those plugs were also doing some damage to the back of my couch. I got a new couch and didn't want to risk any damage. These do a perfect job and end up providing you with an additional outlet.

Question:	Can you remove the back so it sits flush to the wall
Answer:	Most of the time, receptacles are about 1/8 to 1/4" out from the sheet rock. You can't remove the back of this, therefore it will not sit flush to sheet rock. Not a good design. I don't like the gap between the wall and this unit.

Answer:	No, it is not. ETL listing is less generally/broadly considered stringent than UL listing, though there are standards in place.
Question:	How do you know of any of the surge suppression components have been blown? Good quality surge suppression gives a status light. Does this one

What causes an electrical surge?

In stormy weather, when thunder happens close to the transmission line, the conveying circuit will create induced surge voltage. This can also occur when a large electric device is turned on in the power circuit. Both types of induced surge voltage can interfere the electric devices connected. The first type can damage the devices.

Frequently used surge protection components

Surge protectors can be added to the power circuit to prevent the damage. The surge protectors are constructed with different types of surge protection components. The most frequently used ones are MOV, GDT and TVS. MOV has medium energy absorbing capability and response time, so it is widely used in simple surge protection circuits. GDT has large energy absorbing capability but longer response time; TVS has response speed less than 1Ns with small energy absorbing capability. All three of them are used together to construct professional surge protection circuits.

POWRUI 3-Level Surge Protection Circuit

POWRUI is one of the few Surge Protector makers which uses TVS, MOV and GDT to make 3-Level Surge Protection Circuit that absorbs the energy in steps, providing the best protection of the electrical devices from voltage spikes. Answer:	You can run one of the other but not both at the same time on a 14 G. Even then 1800 watts @ 120 V is max for the wire. You need to hope you don't forget or that someone else tries to run both at the same time as you would be over loading a 14 G wire. Not a safe practice.

Answer:	Yes, it works just like any other electric cord. It is not water proof. None are, unless they specify that they are. Never owned a waterproof electric cord, but they must exist.

Question:	I was going to buy this but little confused. You have to replace your existing faceplate
Answer:	You remove the faceplate and mount this and use the screw hole that kept the faceplate attached to secure this with the longer screws uncluded. The seller's customer service was terrible and refused to replace it until I sent them photos. Totally unsatisfactory.

What causes an electrical surge?

In stormy weather, when thunder happens close to the transmission line, the conveying circuit will create induced surge voltage. This can also occur when a large electric device is turned on in the power circuit. Both types of induced surge voltage can interfere the electric devices connected. The first type can damage the devices.

Frequently used surge protection components

Surge protectors can be added to the power circuit to prevent the damage. The surge protectors are constructed with different types of surge protection components. The most frequently used ones are MOV, GDT and TVS. MOV has medium energy absorbing capability and response time, so it is widely used in simple surge protection circuits. GDT has large energy absorbing capability but longer response time; TVS has response speed less than 1Ns with small energy absorbing capability. All three of them are used together to construct professional surge protection circuits.

POWRUI 3-Level Surge Protection Circuit

POWRUI is one of the few Surge Protector makers which uses TVS, MOV and GDT to make 3-Level Surge Protection Circuit that absorbs the energy in steps, providing the best protection of the electrical devices from voltage spikes.
