If you can thread a needle, then you can easily make zippers shorter...BUT you need to lower the zipper pull to the bottom of the zipper, (and not let it slid off while you) cut off whatever extra length you want, then sew across the zipper teeth at the top of EACH INDIVIDUAL side of the open zipper (keeping the zipper pull down at the bottom)-sew over and over-until the threads jam up the teeth so much that the zipper pull cannot cross them and fall off of the zipper. ANd the threads you sew do not have to be neat...even two big lumpy knots (one on each side) would work to stop the zipper pull from coming off! Now you can use the shortened zipper without the zipper pull coming off.
