9 best blank cd r discs

Blank CD-R discs, also known as Compact Disc Recordable discs, are a type of optical storage media used for recording and storing digital data. They are a popular choice for creating audio CDs, data backups, and various multimedia applications. Here are some key points about blank CD-R discs:

  1. Write-Once Format: CD-R discs are write-once media, meaning once you have recorded data onto them, it cannot be erased or rewritten. The data is permanently "burned" onto the disc.

  2. Storage Capacity: Standard CD-R discs typically have a storage capacity of 700 megabytes (MB) or 80 minutes of audio. There are also higher-capacity versions, such as 800 MB or 90 minutes of audio.

  3. Compatibility: CD-R discs are compatible with a wide range of CD and DVD drives, including CD-RW (Compact Disc ReWritable) drives that can read and write to both CD-R and CD-RW discs.

  4. Recording Process: To write data to a CD-R disc, you need a CD burner (or CD writer) drive in your computer. The process involves using a laser to etch pits into the dye layer of the disc, creating the data pattern.

  5. Data Types: CD-Rs can store various types of data, including audio files (for creating audio CDs), video files, documents, software installations, and more.

  6. Labeling: CD-R discs usually come with a printable label surface that allows you to create custom labels using compatible inkjet or thermal printers. This feature is useful for personalizing your discs.

  7. Longevity: The longevity of data on CD-R discs can vary depending on factors like the quality of the disc and how it's stored. Proper storage in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight can help preserve the data for many years.

  8. Archival Use: CD-Rs have been commonly used for archival purposes, such as backing up important documents, photos, and other digital content. However, it's important to note that they are not as durable as some other archival storage options.

  9. Obsolete Technology: While CD-Rs are still used for specific purposes, they have largely been surpassed by higher-capacity and more durable storage technologies like DVD-R, Blu-ray, and various digital storage solutions.

  10. Cost: Blank CD-R discs are relatively inexpensive, making them a cost-effective choice for one-time data backups and simple multimedia projects.

In summary, blank CD-R discs are optical media that allow you to record data once and are commonly used for creating audio CDs, data backups, and other digital storage needs. They offer compatibility with a wide range of CD drives and are a cost-effective option for short-term data storage. However, they are now considered somewhat outdated in comparison to newer storage technologies.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the country of origin regarding the manufacturer of these discs
Answer: The discs are made in Taiwan by CMC Magnetics, who has made them for many years and now owns the brand.
Question: Can you put essays on it
Answer: You can write data files onto the disc (i.e. doc or text files) as well as any computer files or record music but not both
Question: Will the music burned on these play on an ordinary cd player/changer
Answer: Yes, I have not had any problems playing cd music or mp3 music disc burned onto these disc. My DVD/CD burner burns these disc at 40X with never a failure.
Question: Is it erasable? I mean, can overwrite what I have previously recorded? If the answer is yes, will it affect the quality of the second recording
Answer: This is an old question with old answers. YES you can edit your content (at least on Windows 10). When you first insert the CD into your drive, you will be prompted to either use it as a USB or CD. If you select USB you can edit (add/modify/delete) files. As a test, I saved an MP4 file and a text file then deleted the text file. No problem. I also added a text file then modified its' contents and resaved the text file (same file name). No problem. The other bonus is that the MP4 was read and played off of this disk. Just like I would expect (as if it was on a USB stick). There should be no degradation in performance, but all media (hard disks, solid state (drives, memory, USB) have write limits. You can only write to a disk so many times.

User questions & answers

Question: Is there a difference /compatibitity issue between a CD.R written by a standalone cd writer and a computer / Windows media writter
Answer: CDRs are good in computers only. They can be recorded and played back there. They will not be accepted for recording by a component CD writer. For that, a CDR- Audio disc, commonly marked 'music' is needed. These will play back anywhere while the computer generated homemade discs will often skip periodically on car units, boom boxes, and various model guitar trainers. Professionally mastered and duplicated CDRs should be good anywhere.
Question: Will these discs record in my Magnavox 765 recorder
Answer: I'd guess these aren't likely to work on an older Philips/Magnavox recorder. Maybe some of the ones available in 2014 would have; they were then sourced from Ritek, but since late 2016 or so they have been made by CMC Magnetics, who also make discs branded as Memorex, Imation, Verbatim and others. The trouble seems more due the physical layout of the disc than to the type of dye used.
Question: will cd r's record & play back on a 2013 teac cd recorder
Answer: I'm using a 2008 TEAC CDRW880 hooked up to an Onkyo stereo reciever.. I've been using CD-R Music in the Maxell, TDK and Memorex brands and have never had any recording issues. The CD has to be a CD-R "MUSIC". A regular CD-R can't be used except on a computer to save pictures & video.
Question: is this digital audio recordable
Answer: Yes, these are the discs necessary for separate CD recorders not for computers. Dub then finalize and listen on any CD player

User questions & answers

Question: Can these be used for audio
Answer: Yes. It is machine washable.
Question: What color are the disks on the recording side
Answer: No. It is not waterproof. This is a reversible design.
Question: Can these also be used as a regular cd without printing
Answer: Yes and yes. The top is gauze like so water and fine sand can get in. The only openings are in the soul to let water out. The shoe will protect you feet very well from shells and rocks and let Sandy water in and out. It has the potential of trapping fine sand that gets in with the water.
Question: What do you need to print on these discs
Answer: The shoe upper is mesh so I think sand could get in pretty easily. The sole has drain holes but there is an insole in the shoe which might keep small rocks out but probably not sand.
