Answer:	Hi Michael, I suspect it will. I'm running a Canon Vixia800 into an HDMI splitter. One side goes into this output and the video (yellow) lead into an old Bogen video recorder. Audio for us comes from a mixer to create DVD's, so I haven't tried the audio connection yet. Looks good on the monitor so I would say it should work for your purpose.

Every once in a while, it seems to get hung up and I'll need turn it off and on again when the Xbox is starting up, but it's not a huge deal, especially considering the resolution is VASTLY improved over the HDMI to composite adapter I was using. Answer:	I'm not really qualified to answer this as I haven't tried it. However, I have always thought of the HDMI port on the laptop to be an output port so you can display your laptop screen on a TV. I have no idea whether the HDMI port can handle input to your laptop. You should confirm this before purchasing this item.
Question:	how long is the cable from each side of the square box
Answer:	Trying to do the same. Purchased the wrong unit first so I'm looking to buy this. Trouble is, I have no USB power there, so it will need a power supply. Complicated to go from old to new connectors. I wish they would install the old simple connectors on the new devices so we don't have to buy these converters. Quality always suffers and they are expensive and complicated. BUT if you can power this up, it should work.
