12 best cable amplifiers
Cable amplifiers are devices used to boost the strength of cable television signals or other RF (Radio Frequency) signals, such as those used for satellite TV, antennas, or cable internet. These amplifiers are essential in situations where the incoming signal is weak or has to be distributed to multiple devices or rooms. Here's what you need to know about cable amplifiers and their related components:
Functionality: Cable amplifiers work by taking the weak signal from your cable provider or antenna and increasing its strength. This helps to overcome signal degradation caused by long cable runs, splitters, or other obstacles.
Use Cases:
- Signal Boosting: Cable amplifiers are commonly used to improve the quality of cable TV or satellite signals, especially in situations where the signal may weaken due to long cable runs or multiple splits.
- Multiple Outputs: They are used to distribute a single signal to multiple televisions or devices within a household.
- Over-the-Air Antennas: They can enhance the reception of over-the-air (OTA) TV signals from an antenna.
Types of Amplifiers:
- Distribution Amplifiers: These amplifiers are used to split a single incoming signal into multiple outputs, each with an amplified signal. They are commonly used in homes to send the same cable or antenna signal to various TVs.
- Drop Amplifiers: These amplifiers are installed closer to the TV to compensate for signal loss due to long cable runs or multiple splits. They are typically used in residential installations.
- In-Line Amplifiers: These amplifiers are used directly in the cable or antenna line to boost the signal before it reaches the TV or other devices.
Installation:
- Cable amplifiers are typically installed in-line with the cable or antenna connection. You place them between the incoming signal source (cable or antenna) and the device you want to feed the amplified signal.
- They require a power source, often supplied through an included power adapter or through a USB connection.
Signal Quality: While cable amplifiers can improve signal strength, they cannot fix other issues like signal noise or interference. It's essential to have a good quality signal to start with.
Compatibility: Ensure that the cable amplifier you choose is compatible with your specific signal source (cable TV, satellite, OTA antenna) and the type of signal you're boosting (analog, digital, HDTV).
Splitter Compatibility: If you're using a distribution amplifier, make sure it's compatible with the type and number of splitters you plan to use in your setup.
Amplifier Gain: Pay attention to the amplifier's gain rating, as excessive gain can lead to signal overload and distortion. Select an amplifier with an appropriate gain level for your needs.
Considerations: Before purchasing a cable amplifier, it's important to diagnose your signal issues correctly. In some cases, signal problems can be resolved by improving cable quality or repositioning antennas.
In summary, cable amplifiers play a crucial role in ensuring a strong and reliable signal for cable TV, satellite TV, and antenna-based setups. Understanding your specific requirements and choosing the right type of amplifier is essential for optimal signal quality and distribution.

User questions & answers
Question: | May I use this product to split an fm signal from an antennae and send it to my recveivers and equipment which uses a coaxial cable |
Answer: | I don't see why not, the fm frequencies use the same antenna as vhf and as long as you have an antenna with that capability I believe so. The splitter/booster just distributes the signal equally between each connection so there is no signal loss from too many splits. Yes,it can be used for this purpose |
Question: | If this amp is not compatible with a tv broadcast rf/rx antenna, could you recommend a good one |
Answer: | this device is compatible with pretty much all service providers of COAX tv service like comcast, spectrum and verizon |
Question: | Can this be mounted outdoors |
Answer: | If mounted outdoors it should be in a sheltered, dry location - preferably in a telecom enclosure. The power supply is rated for INDOOR USE ONLY. |
Question: | Can two be daisy-chained successfully? I have one already but need more than 8 outlets in my home |
Answer: | No. Daisy chaining has a high probability of failure, and is strongly discouraged. If you need more that 8 ports it is better to use a 2-way splitter to feed 2 separate amplifiers. |

Question: | Can just help with poor internet signal |
Answer: | Sorry, If dvd player attached to Surround AV Receiver |
Question: | It does work analog and digital antenna |
Answer: | No you do not need more cables. The HDMI cable has both sound and video. You are going to have to trouble shoot each item starting with the cable. And work your way by eliminating each item. Is the cable new and have you used it before with any other device? My blue-ray worked straight out of the box however I had a dvd player already hooked up with HDMI so I simply used all of the same wires. If you had to test the blue-ray player then see if you can hook up some rca jacks the red yellow white ones to the audio portion of the player and the tv. That way you can at least see if you get sound from the blue-ray player. If you have a different device to use the hdmi cable with I would test that but if you have used the cable before and you know it works then yes, you need to start checking settings on the box or even the tv. |
Question: | will this work with my outdoor digital antenna |
Answer: | Samsung BD-H6500 vs. BD-J7500 BD-H6500 (2014 model) versus BD-J7500 (2015 model)BD-H6500 may be the best choice1) Considerably lower price2) Same user features, i. e., 3D, UHD passthrough & upscaling, etc.3) BD-6500 has excellent reviews4) Both have dual core processors for fast load speedMajor consideration is in your current entertainment system:1) BD-J7500 is a better choice for those with older HDTV's that do not have 4K UHD pass-thru as it includes (2) HDMI out. That allows connecting (1) to the HDTV and the second to an older HDMI equipped audio receiver to achieve digital audio pass-thru It also includes 7.1 analog connections for older style audio receivers.Read full review |
Question: | I currently have hdtv antenna but i have keep moving it because my local channel keeps pixilating or too low of a signal. will this help me |
Answer: | If you have a 4K TV, it will display the signal it's fed. If you don't have a 4K blu-ray disc then it will upconvert as best as possible but unless you have a 4K player with a 4K blu-ray disc will your 4K TV be able to put out all true 4K in all it's glory. Some blu-ray players enhance or shall we say upconvert the reg blu-ray disc better than others but I'm sure you won't be too disappointed. As time goes by, 4K discs and more 4K movie content will become more abundant and you'll be ready for the future. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with the power supply |
Answer: | Mine is 3 feet, I think ten feet is a good distance to connect power to amplificar. |
Question: | how far away does the power supply have to be from amp before you should use remote/power inverter? Mine is about 6 feet |
Answer: | Connect the power adapter to the 'power in' port. The instructions with the box are ambiguous. The author probably meant "do not use" the 'power in' port for a data or video connection but they were not specific enough. Good writers are hard to find. |
Question: | Where does the power-in cable from the wall adapter go? The one port is labeled 'power in' but the box it came in says 'do not use |
Answer: | Only Surge protection I have is that the Ground Block is connected to the incoming Coax and that's all the protection it provides. There are UPS systems that provide better surge protection. |
Question: | Are the coax lines surge protected |
Answer: | they are wired and it has the 1/4 to 1/8 screw jack so you on screw the 1/4 head to get the 1/8 jack really nice and the sound is excellent. |
Product description
This is a brand new, four port cable television drop amplifier, similar to the products that your local cable company uses to correct their system's shortcomings. The amplifier allows you to connect up to four devices to a single input connection, without losing signal strength like you would with normal splitters. It boosts signal strength in an intelligent manner, by limiting the naturally stronger signals on the low frequency range and boosting the frequencies on the higher end. Since TV signals tend to natually lose strength on the high frequencies faster than the low frequencies, you are less likely to over-amplify your TV signals and cause further problems. The LSA48 provides a minimum of 0dB gain (which means no signal loss) on the low frequency end (54MHz) up to a +7.5db (approximately 5x signal gain) on the high end 1000MHz end. It improves Analog, Digital & HDTV Picture Quality, and Improves UHF/VHF/FM Antenna Reception! The unit can be used with Cable TV, OTA Antennas (Analog or Digital as long as they are non-amplified). This model packs a powerful punch in a compact, easy-to-install package! If you have multiple televisions or run a cable modem for your internet, this product is recommended. Answer: | Grounding is recommended. Grounding can protect the device from surges or perhaps lightning strikes. Consult with an electrician for proper means of grounding. |
Question: | Will this work to boost internet signal? i don't have cable tv - our house is about 300 ft from the road and that seems to degrade our internet speed |
Answer: | If you have cable internet (only) you would like be better off with an "active return " amplifier. The only way to really know that for sure would be to check your cable modem for proper signal levels. I would not buy this if you're specifically trying to boost cable internet. |
Question: | How long is the power cord |
Answer: | Includes Amplifier, Power Supply, 36 inch coaxial cable and two 75-ohm port terminators. |

- Solution in solving the problems of noise, interference and weakness after distribution. Boost RF coax signal with ease for more than 2100FT or 650m if RF TV source signal has fair 70/75dB strength to start with. Boosts the existing CATV or antenna signal strength for greater distance with minimum loss for more TV distribution.
- Adjustable gain/attenuation to reduce overdriving. Adjustable tilt compensation to allow large CATV systems to be properly balanced and mixed with other CATV or existing RF distribution system. Supports full TV frequency range from 40MHz to 860MHz for analog/digital cable TV, UHF and VHF channels.
- Anti-Interference module design with advanced noise filer built in. -20 dB Output/Input Test Port is provided for easy trouble shooting. Thunder bolt protection with internal AC fuse built in for high voltage surge events. Aluminum chassis provides excellent heat dissipation and long durability.
User questions & answers
Question: | What are the dimensions of this unit |
Answer: | If you don’t have a drummer, sure. You could always mic it, otherwise, I’d recommend saving up a couple hundred more dollars for a bigger amp. This is more of a practice amp. |
Question: | What is the warranty on the unit |
Answer: | I believe the headphone jack can be used for headphones or a speaker output? I would review the specs online type in the exact amp and or try to find an online manual at that will be your best bet. It is a very loud amp even with just the (1) 8" speaker. |
Product description
The PCT-VC series provides full compatibility with all cable TV services. The VC-9U provides an alternative to the higher priced Electroline FT08300, while providing some additional capabilites that other products cannot provide. The VC-9U provides a full set of 8 amplified output ports. Each port carries the exact same signal level as the input port carries - in both the forward and reverse directions. This unique design makes the VC-9U a true lossless splitter in both directions, allowing you to connect virtually any cable TV device and enjoy worry-free operation. All 8 ports can be used for any type of device including a cable modem. The VC-9U also provides a Modem Bypass port. The bypass port allows you to connect any device to the amplifier (usually a cable modem or VoIP phone device) and insure operation of that device in the event of a power failure. The amplifier is surge protected (when properly grounded) and waterproof. It also has a unique mounting design that allows the amplifier to be mounted either horizontally or vertically with two separate sets of mounting brackets. This provides you with the best options for mounting the amplifier anywhere inside or outside your home. Supports operation from -40 degress to +140 degrees Fahrenheit. The amplifier can be powered from any location using an optional (not included) PCT power inserter. Power supply is included.
- Consumer Alert: Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device.
User questions & answers
Question: | What is the "OUT ___ dB" for the 8 ports? I can't read it from the picture. Some of the reviews say it doesn't come with a power supply |
Answer: | What is says is "Out 0 dB". It means there is zero loss going through the splitter. One of the 8 ports is marked "Modem -5dB". That one is not amplified, and will still pass signal if power is lost. It does come with the power supply. |
Question: | When using moca what input does it go into? like from the main power line to where |
Answer: | just connect your incoming cable line into the RF in port on the device. Also you will need another coaxial cord to power the device with the included power adapter. Then just plug all inside cable connections going to the rooms to the 8 ports on device. |
Question: | Will this work with MOCA |
Answer: | It depends what version you get. This particular model in the picture will not work. I have it connected and moca does not communicate with tivo box. Ill need to re purchase the correct one |
Question: | What is the deferance between this one and your 8-Port Bi-Directional Cable TV HDTV Amplifier B003B99KDK, ( why would i need this one |
Answer: | Mine has active return which is required for 2 way communications on cable systems where you use "on demand". When you use on demand you are actually sending a signal back to the cable company to command a request. The one you are looking at has passive return which is fine for antenna and cable systems where on demand is not required. Mine has an amplified return. The other one does not and will not work with on demand cable. I actually tried the one without active return and would noy work on my cable system with on demand |
