14 best multiple speaker switchs

Multiple speaker switches, often referred to as selector switch boxes, are audio accessories used in home entertainment systems to manage and control multiple speakers or audio sources. These devices enable users to distribute audio from various sources (such as amplifiers, receivers, or audio players) to different sets of speakers or zones within a home or commercial space. Here's what you should know about multiple speaker switches:

  1. Audio Source Selection: Multiple speaker switches allow users to select and switch between different audio sources. This can include sources like stereo receivers, amplifiers, CD players, streaming devices, or even multiple amplifiers for different zones.

  2. Zone Control: One of the primary purposes of these switch boxes is to control the distribution of audio to different zones or rooms within a building. This means you can play music or audio in one room while another room remains silent or plays a different source simultaneously.

  3. Speaker Management: These switches typically feature multiple terminals or channels where you can connect speakers. By toggling the selector switch, you can direct audio to specific sets of speakers, effectively controlling where the sound is played.

  4. Impedance Matching: Some multiple speaker switches come with impedance-matching capabilities. This feature helps maintain the impedance seen by the amplifier, preventing overload and ensuring proper performance, especially when connecting multiple speakers to one amplifier.

  5. Volume Control: Some models incorporate volume control for individual zones, allowing you to adjust the sound levels in each area independently. This can be useful for creating different audio environments throughout a space.

  6. Wiring: Proper wiring is essential when using multiple speaker switches. They usually require speaker wires to be run from the switch to each set of speakers. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for correct wiring.

  7. Compatibility: It's important to choose a speaker switch that is compatible with your audio equipment and the number of zones or speakers you want to control. Some models support more zones than others.

  8. Remote Control: Advanced multiple speaker switches may include remote control options, allowing you to change sources or adjust volume levels from a distance.

  9. Installation: Installation typically involves connecting the input sources, the multiple speaker switch, and the speakers. Depending on the complexity of the setup, you may need professional installation for optimal performance.

  10. Use Cases: Multiple speaker switches are commonly used in residential settings for distributed audio systems, home theaters, or multi-room audio setups. They are also utilized in commercial environments such as restaurants, bars, and retail spaces to provide audio to different zones.

Overall, multiple speaker switches are valuable tools for managing and distributing audio in multi-room or multi-zone setups, providing flexibility and control over your audio sources and speakers.

User questions & answers

Question: can this replace my Pyle Pro PT
Answer: No, not the devices have the same functions!
Question: Ok, I bought the PT510 amplifier, and the PSPVC6 speaker selector, but not sure how to connect them together. Can anyone help
Answer: Ok I'm going to try and keep it simple. Normally, once the amp is connected the 'sound' travels out of the red/white or left/right speaker connectors that are attached then to the speaker system. In your case, think of the speaker box as a 'conjunction' (like the words 'and/ but' in a sentence)..so just connect the 'speaker out' on your amp to the 'speaker in' on the speaker selector box...then connect the speaker box to the 6 speakers...be ready with a small flat head screw driver to open each the speaker connection ports...it's a bit more tedious but assures a professional non clip in/out connection...good luck...and make sure every thing is off to avoid 'blowing out' of the speakers and/or unit.
Question: Does this have impedance protection - control against low ohms driving multiple speakers
Answer: http://manuals.pyleusa.com/PDF/PSPVC4-6.pdf The last few pages of manual shows impedance of turning on combinations of speakers It is the amp that needs to be 4 ohm stable, I have a Denon AVR 3300 and AVR 2500. The more speakers active, the lower the impedance, (ohms Law) and the more power needed from the amp According to Crutchfield, we need a 4 ohm stable amp, and the Denon family provides overload protection, and the Denon amps have a 8 ohm (default) and a4 ohm setting I already fried an Onkyo amp, running all the speakers at once, for an extended period.
Question: Is the Pyle PT510 240 Watt Amplifier a good receiver to use with this. I want to put sound in many rooms in my office
Answer: I am by no means an AV expert. This amplifier was recommended to me by our AV guy in order to amplify the sound for distribution into several rooms in which we have speakers. We primarily use this amp in connection with an Apple TV device to play music from our iPhone or iPad in our kitchen, den, family room and outside speakers. Hope this response is helpful for you. Kind Regards, Robert

    User questions & answers

Question: I am installing in-wall speakers in multiple rooms. My question is what is the best cheapest in-wall volume controller that would work with this speaker selector
Answer: There is no difference in for the install if you mount speakers in the wall or ceiling.
Question: Several questions, How do you hook it to your stereo, I am hard of hearing so I hooked 3speakers to my stereo system, this is hooked to my tv when I turn it up some times it turns off by it self I do not understand that I would like more speakers all the 5 star reviews makes this product sound real good. the receiver
Answer: I think so. They mount with a screw and clamp. The screw is accessible behind the removable front grill. The speaker comes with a template so you know what size to cut out in the wall or ceiling. After you insert the speaker into the recess, as you turn the screw, it tightens the clamp onto drywall, securing it in place. Although it is designed for drywall, I think it will work on anything with approximately the same thickness (~3/4 inch thick).
Question: How Do You Hook A PSS6 Speaker Selector To A Pyle PCAU46A
Answer: I would recommend a 5.1 home audio receiver.
Question: can i play all 6 speakers at the same time
Answer: The pyle pta44bt would be a good amp for the speakers.

    User questions & answers

Question: I don’t see a protection button. Is protection built into the circuitry and just auto running all the time
Answer: Impedance matching circuitry is built and activates according to the amount of speakers selected.
Question: watts peak or 200 watts standard RMS
Answer: they never are clear about that. always stating 200 watts rms. My take: I'm running 80 watts min. per channel @ 8ohms using 3 pairs speakers rated 8ohms that handle 130 watts each, no problems. this switch uses internal wiring configurations NO ON-OFF switch just speaker in or out select. REQUIRES 8 Ohm SPEAKERS TO WORK PROPERLY
Question: Does this connect to the speaker ouput of my amplifier
Answer: Yes. Speaker outputs from your amp to amp inputs on swith, then from speaker outputs on switch to your speakers.
Question: Can you use this product with speakers that are 4 ohms or 6 ohms
    Answer: 8 ohms minimum.

    User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone noticed a drop in sound quality or power level
    Answer: No
Question: Can i use this to switch between two preamps going into one amp
Answer: I think with honey being as thick as it is, would likely be far slower thank transferring it manually. Even for pumping out engine oil is a slow process.
Question: Does anyone know of a "smart" (i.e. controllable with Google, etc) switch like this
Answer: If it’s dirty oil or otherwise why clean it?
Question: Is the selector switch a “ Break before make” Type of switch? I want to ensure that it is virtually impossible to back feed one amp into the other
Answer: I have no clue on that.

    User questions & answers

Question: I want to use this on two sets of speakers, one set for front height & second set for side surrounds and switch between the two. Is it possible
Answer: I have speakers throughout my house. The Pyle Six-zone box allows me to have music in most every room. Hook each speaker you have to the Pyle and hook the Pyle to your receiver, speaker A or B. I have mine on B. Connect your receiver audio to your TV audio. There is a separate button on the Pyle that you should always keep positioned to on (button in). That is the easiest I can make it for you. This box works perfect for me and has never shut off. Good luck to you.
Question: Does this switch allow me to control sets of speakers independently
Answer: I am running an older Technics amp 2x100 6 pairs of speakers at times so I would say yes. Just remember you are putting this amp to a lot of work if you're running 6 pairs of speakers so watch the temps on the amp.
Question: One person indicated what they believed the protection button was. Does anybody know? Pyle technical support apparently doesn't exist
Answer: Maybe. The more speakers that you connect the lower their effective impedance as seen by the amplifier. And the lower the effective impedance the higher the current that the amplifier must generate in order to drive the speakers to a specific listening level without distortion. Most speakers, particularly the less costly ones, have a nominal 8 ohm impedance. So if you are driving one set of such speakers the amplifier will be seeing an 8 ohm load. But if your amplifier is driving 2 sets of such speakers the amplifier will be seeing 1/(1/8 + 1/8) = a 4 ohm load; if your amplifier is driving 3 sets of such speakers the amplifier will be seeing a 1/(1/8 + 1/8 + 1/8) = 2.7 ohm load, etc. With 6 speakers your amplifier will be seeing a 1.3 ohm load. And this would be a nominal and typically maximum load; in practice the load fluctuates depending on frequency and is effectively lower for short periods of time. Some amplifiers are designed to drive such low loads but many are not. If you try to do that with such a low current amplifier for a long period of time you will burn up the amplifier. That is why speaker selectors like this one have a protection button which basically adds a resistance in series with the speakers in order to increase the impedance seen by the amplifier. This will reduce the overall efficiency and you will notice that you have to increase the volume to get the same amount of sound as with the protection button off.So, if your amplifier has a sufficient current capability to drive those 6 speakers to your desired listening levels, great. If it doesn't, and if the listening level is too low for your tastes with the protection button on, you will need to either settle for lower volume or get a more powerful amplifier.
Question: How do I hook this up to my 5.1 receiver
Answer: The sound is great there is no distortion.

Question: does anyone know the demensions of this width, depth and high
Answer: It's demensions is 175x114x49(mm). Hope it can help you.
Question: Does the volume decrease significantly for each speaker when using this vs. attaching directly to the amplifier
Answer: I use 2 sets of speakers with good volume if use all 4 sets it does decrease. Consider 25% each set.
Question: I lost the instructions. Where can I get a copy
Answer: This is a straight forward box, it has one stereo (R , L ) input and four stereo outputs, depending on which output switch you select (ON). The Input signal to this box should be coming from the amplifier speakers out, and the output of the box ( 1 ~4 ) should be connected to the 1~ 4 speakers under test(s). Hope this help
Question: HImy speakers have a nominal impedance of 4-6 ohms will this work for me
Answer: If your amp can drive 2 ohms speaker sets, then yes. In this 4-set selector, spkrs 1-2 will parallel, spkrs 3-4 will parallel, and the 2 subsets will series. So if using 4 ohm spkrs, then 1-2 will become 2 ohm, 3-4 will become 2 ohm, and all spks will series back to 4 ohm.

    User questions & answers

Question: My Yamaha Receiver (750) has A and B speaker outputs. Would I connect the ISS4 inputs to the B outputs and then run 4 separate speaker pairs from the B side of the receiver leaving the A side for the main listening room speakers
Answer: It really depends on the type of speaker configuration you have in your main zone. If you have a 5.1 environment in your main zone the best option is to connect the iss4's inputs to the zone 2 terminal on the back of your 750. This will allow you to listen to different sources in each zone at the same time. For instance you could watch a DVD in your main zone and in zone 2 you could be listening to an iPod or the fm tuner. Hope this answers your question, if you choose this option then remember you can only listen to analog sources in a zone 2 setup.
Question: I can see how to select zones, how do you select the source? I have a phono amp and home theater amp I need to switch between, one set of speakers
Answer: There is an round A/B button next to each rectangular zone button. Undepressed your are selecting source A. Press the button in and you are now selecting source B.
Question: Can I run the 6 pairs of speakers at the same time? If this can be done, the volume drops
Answer: Of course the volume drops. You will have 6 parallel circuits, each getting 1/6 the current. Basic rules of electricity.
Question: I've bought this and I have connected it to 4 zones of in-wall speakers but the volume is extremely low! Do I need a receiver before the input
Answer: What are you powering the speakers with?? In an ideal setup this device would be connected after the stereo amplifier or a/v receiver. It's is recommended to have an power source of at least 50W per channel supplying power to this volume selector. If you have impedance matching volume controls make sure the protection circuit button is in the off position(pushed out). If you have no volume controls push the circuit protection button in so that it equalizes the impedance.

    User questions & answers

Question: Will fit on slider rack shelf with 16 inches wide and 15 inches deep? thank you
Answer: Good question. There are two things you should know before you pull the trigger on this. Banana plugs don’t insert far enough to stay put, and since I have this box hooked up to amplified speakers I kept getting a buzz. I bought special banana plug pig tails which I ended up removing because of said problem. What did work very well for me was to remove the banana plugs and strip and solder the speaker wires then tighten the threaded part against the inserted wire in the hole on the shaft, a very tight connection and that worked great. The other issue is you can’t turn off one the speakers which was reported in one of the comments. It is annoying but for my application one set of speakers is downstairs with their own volume control so, I just adjust the volume on them when in use. Hope this helps.
Question: I don't understand the description. what does the a /b button at each speaker volume control mean? doesn't the speaker pairs selected play together
Answer: Hi, I have one of these (returning the 1st one due to poor speaker terminal , I find that it will accept a 4mm and thicker Banana Plug. Amazon's model was poor fit, but MediaBridge's plug in more securely. I have not fully connected my XtremePro yet, but I hope this helps.
Question: Can the speaker connectors take banana plugs as opposed to threading the wires
Answer: I may not be understanding your question correctly, but with this item I am using the volume control on my amp for the front speakers and the volume on this device to control the volume on the rear speakers. So yes, I can set one set of speakers at a different volume that the other. Again, if I am understanding your question correctly.
Question: So I can hook up 4 sets of speakers on my new Pyle unit all on one receiver without worry of damage? Looked like chart had impedence fall off to
Answer: Yes as far as I can tell. Aka-when I only have on speaker on and flip the switch to turn another group on, the volume drops. It’s not necessarily half the volume though.

    User questions & answers

Question: could you theoretically wire this backwards with two different receivers outputting to a single set of speakers
Answer: You could be would not recommend as if you mistakenly engage both amps at the same time you will end up damaging your system. For your application would recommend the following item specifically designed for safely controlling a pair of speakers from two different amp / receivers. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0796KGVXT
Question: What are the dimensions, width x depth x height
    Answer: 4x7Front height 1in back about 2in
Question: Can i hook up 2 pairs of 4ohm jbl provspeakers without putting significant strain on extron mini amp? it is rated 4ohm load min
Answer: Specs say impedance rating is 4-8 ohms. You are fine.
Question: I have 1 center channel ouput, will it work to go from 1 channel to 2 channels
Answer: It does exactly what the diagram shows … taking a L(+ and -) & R (+ and -) as input and sends it to 1 or 2 destinations. So you have 4 connectors INPUT and TWO SEPARATE OUTPUTS (4 commectors EACH). If you only want to send the CENTER channel to TWO OUTPUT CHANNELS … I never used it for this but 'presumably' connect to INPUT (L + and -) and connect OUTPUTS will be at (L+ and -) of EACH OUTPUT CHANNEL???.

    User questions & answers

Question: What specifically causes the static issue when two inputs are connected (like what the comments below mention
Answer: Hello, im no expert but i do speak from experience. So I used this on a custom speaker build and had no issues, HOWEVER i do use ground loop isolator and inline ferit rings to avoid/clean up sound abit. Because that static or (noise) is cause by the power or current that amps or in this case the switch board picks up, and can come from any where its connected to, PC, amplifier, nearby power source you name it. Hope this helps!
Question: Are the audio plugs 4-pole? (stereo and microphone
Answer: No. The inputs and outputs are all 3.5mm stereo.
Question: Can the input in channel 1 be heard at the same time in both four outputs (having connected 4 headphones)? thanks
Answer: Unfortunately no, this is more of a single lane chooser if you will. It has 4 imputs and 4 out puts, youre just choosing single wich imput comes out of what single out put.
Question: Does this support 4 pole? Specifically can a headset with a mic be plugged in to an output and transmit to an input computer
Answer: I am fairly but not absolutely certain the answer is no. I don't particularly want to disassemble mine to check for sure but it's open construction gives some visibility into how many solder connections there are to the input and output jacks. Between that and what people say about it comments, and the product description -- pretty sure, no. That could be a nice product, though.
