10 best coax cables
Coaxial cables, often referred to as coax cables, are a type of electrical cable used for transmitting radio frequency (RF) signals. They are commonly used in various applications related to audio and video transmission, as well as data communication. Here are some key points about coax cables:
Structure: Coaxial cables consist of several layers, including:
- Center Conductor: A solid or stranded wire at the core of the cable, typically made of copper or aluminum.
- Dielectric: An insulating material that surrounds the center conductor to maintain a constant distance and impedance.Common dielectric materials include foam, plastic, or air.
- Shield: A metallic layer that surrounds the dielectric, providing both shielding against external interference and grounding. The shield can be made of braided wire or a metallic foil.
- Outer Jacket: The final layer of insulation, usually made of plastic or rubber, protects the cable from physical damage and environmental factors.
Impedance: Coaxial cables are designed to have a specific characteristic impedance, typically 50 or 75 ohms. Matching the impedance of the cable to the equipment it connects is important for optimal signal transmission.
Applications:
- Video Cables: Coaxial cables are commonly used for transmitting video signals, such as those in cable television (CATV) systems, satellite TV connections, and CCTV surveillance systems.
- Audio Cables: They can also be used for transmitting audio signals, although they are less common in this application compared to other types of audio cables like RCA or XLR.
- Data Communication: Coaxial cables were historically used for Ethernet networks, but they have largely been replaced by twisted pair cables (e.g., Cat 5e, Cat 6) for most data communication applications.
Connectors: Coaxial cables typically use F-type connectors for video and TV applications. These connectors are designed to screw onto the threaded socket found on many devices, such as TVs, cable boxes, and satellite receivers.
Signal Loss: Coaxial cables can experience signal loss over longer distances. The quality and thickness of the cable, as well as the frequency of the signal, play a significant role in determining the extent of signal loss.
Types: There are different types of coaxial cables designed for specific purposes. Some common types include RG-6 and RG-59 cables, with RG-6 being more commonly used for modern high-definition video signals due to its lower signal loss.
Advantages: Coaxial cables are known for their durability and resistance to interference, making them suitable for applications where signal quality is crucial, such as in cable TV and satellite installations.
Disadvantages: While coaxial cables are reliable, they are relatively bulky and inflexible compared to some other cable types, which can make them less suitable for certain installations.
In summary, coaxial cables are widely used for transmitting RF signals in various applications, including video, audio, and data communication. They are valued for their durability and resistance to interference, making them a popular choice for many electronic and communication systems.

Question: | Do I need the adapter with the coaxial cable |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. The RP21904 is only guaranteed to work with Delta soap dispensers. Best regards, Tanya |
Question: | can this be use outdoors? is it uv rated |
Answer: | Don’t know. My faucet isn’t a Delta but the bottle fits perfectly. Worth a try! |
Question: | What is the cable's length |
Answer: | I disconnected the bottle-clean & labeled it- and threw it under the sink. I pulled the pump up and out, and instead of refilling, I took 15 cents of plastic tubing (from Lowes) and stuck it into the end of the plastic dispenser tube, I then slowly pushed the tubing (pump will look the same from the outside when seated) down thru the hole till it touched the cabinet shelf below. Mine was a little long but I left about 20 extra inches. I then took a HUGE bottle of liquid dish soap-removed the top and pushed the tubing into the bottle. Then pump, pump, pump...it takes a while for the soap to come out but NO MORE REFILLING!!! They make kits, but this is cheaper. Later I punched a hole in the cap of soap and threaded the tubing thru to make it harder for the tubing to be pulled out by accident. For a pictorial on how to do this just go to Hometalk.com. |
Question: | It might help if the length was listed |
Answer: | This is the active flip cap. I bought this to replace my classic cap and while I like the large spout on this, I don't like the fact that you have to put your thumb onto the mouthpiece in order to pop this cap open. That's gross to me. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long is this cable |
Answer: | I don't believe so. Most thermos' don't do well in the microwave unless explicitly stated, and I wouldn't assume this one will given the metal. |
Question: | Is this a 50 ohms cable |
Answer: | It should be polypropylene! When I use it, it can guarantee keep warm at least 3-5 hours |
Question: | Can anyone tell me if this has a removable FME connector |
Answer: | Yes it will keep soup warm although I am not sure for how long. I packed some chicken nuggets for my kids to school and they stayed nice and warm. I think it is ok to use for an older child maybe 10+ and kind of a pain for younger because when u have all the layers on it is hard to twist it because there is nothing u can grip. |
Question: | This cable and pl connector works for cobra 29 radio |
Answer: | If you leave a little space at the top when filling, the small containers hold 6oz each and the large container holds 13 oz. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone ever cut one end to get through a hole and spliced back together? How well did that work if so |
Answer: | That's what we used it for. The connects in our house was put in, in 1974 and this worked |
Question: | will cable fit this? firestik k-4a cb radio antenna heavy duty so-239 stud mount |
Answer: | Yes it work well with my modem. |
Question: | Does runninig plastic split loom around it take away range .got to run the cable under my truck |
Answer: | I saw your question and I have one of these that was defective out of the box so I cut it open. The cable says "triple shielded" directly on the jacket of the cable however there are only 2 layers of shielding. There is a very thin piece of foil and then there is aluminum braiding. It is a dual-shielded cable, not a triple shielded cable as the listing and cable says. Apparently you cannot trust AmazonBasics products to tell you the truth about what's in the product. |
Question: | what size is the OD of this connector? I want to put heat shrink around the outside |
Answer: | There are no HD Coax Cables, it's just a marketing trick! Just as there aren't any HD antennas - it's just VHF and UHF. This is a 75-ohm coaxial cable designed to connect two RF devices together - PERIOD. The modulation of HD signals onto an RF carrier is what makes up an HD signal. As long as the connecting cable and the F-connectors match the characteristics of RG-6 specifications, it will then transport a signal. Your cable or satellite provider uses the same RG-6 cable and F-connectors to move the signal from the pole or satellite dish to the back of your TV set. Now, it is true for HD cables (i.e. HDMI) when it comes to interconnecting Blu-Ray players, media streaming devices, etc. but those signals are not riding on an RF carrier. |
