Answer:	The back side of mine is not shiny, it's kind of light blue. It's a pretty stiff plastic so I expect you could drill through it. I would suggest putting tape on both sides and then starting w/ a small pilot hole, then increase the size slowly. I always have a hard time drilling this kind of plastic and usually end up w/ some "chew marks" along the edges. I'm sure nice sharp drill bits will help too.

Answer:	The answer to your question is "sort of". The handle swings back and then has to be squeezed together a little to be pushed into the receiver which holds it tightly. It does not have a "safety" which latches but once the handle is inside the receiver it has to be squeezed fairly hard to take it out so in essence it locks but if the handle is squeezed AND a lot of force is exerted while using it then it can slip out.
