Answer:	A trick question. Yes they are actually two cables (one for right and one for left). Yes the two cables are actually "connected" or molded to each other making it appear as one cable. Can the cables be peeled apart? Yes you can peel them apart but it MAY damage the plastic casing if you don't do it safely. If it helps you, each END of the cable . . . about 5 inches (12cm) is already split. It them becomes molded together as one cable. I tried pulling my cables apart and it looks like they will separate without a problem. If you really need separate cables (not connected/molded together) buy single cables.

Question:	If my smart blueray disc player has both hdmi and toslink connections, is there any advantage to using both? or is hdmi alone good enough
Answer:	I have not heard the BIC PL89. Looking at the specs that should be able to play louder than the Polk due to the horn based design. Not sure about 25hz extension as few of the subwoofers priced around 200 can hit that low. But how loud do you want to go, will you feed power using an external amp? If movies are the main focus then go ahead with the BIC. If you want a great all round system for music and movies then polk would win hands down. I have owned the polk TSI500 and can attest to their smooth sound and great cherry veneer finish.

Answer:	There is a lot of confusion on this. The minimum wattage is about the amp's potential. Not the constant actual power output. 20 watts into these will be really loud... Not even 10db quieter than 160 watts (doubling wattage adds about 3db). When you listen to a 100 watt amp at 70% volume for example, the vast majority of what you hear is probably using 10-15 watts or less. ... But the heavy bass hits or other loud parts use much more.If the amp doesn't have the power for those heavier sounds, the speaker can suffer damage as the amp fails to drive it right. This isn't a great analogy, but it is a little bit like if you were not strong enough press the clutch on your car, so you just pushed it in half way and shifted anyway.

If you are running high wattage over a long (>50ft) run length, the cheaper grade CCA will likely become hotter and not handle it well. This 16ga wire should have the same sonic clarity as a smaller 18ga pure copper wire. You get what you pay for.

Answer:	There is NO fire risk when using this wire for low voltage applications i.e., speaker connections. Most jurisdictions don't care about CL2/CL3 unless you are running 110VAC. This is speaker wire. Don't sweat it!
Question:	what is the difference in watts when it comes to speakers wires
Answer:	The answers here are variably correct and incorrect!! The resistance of the speakers (ohms) needs to match the impedance the amplifier circuit is rated to handle. Too small a wire (length is a variable) will induce a resistance that the amplifier will face, like a speaker, and this will alter the "balance" of the intended match!!!! Pushing speakers rated at 500 watts under a constant load of 250 watts will induce heat "resistance" if the line between the amp and the speaker is very small and sound quality will be compromised!!!! Up to 100 feet of lead at a constant load of 500 watts would ideally be handled using 10 gauge copper, braided wire facing from 4 ohms to 16 ohms. Bottom line: Discriminating "audiophiles" popularly tout the use of 12 gauge braided lead for almost all in-home installations ... this allows for component upgrades in the future! As said here, 16 gauge braided lead, in most installations, will produce results that are completely acceptable in matching power and impedance and results!!!

Answer:	Because "gold plated" sells better. the metal contact will have zero effect on the laser signal.

Answer:	It's purely just to make the product seem more attractive. It has nothing to do with wear or corrosion like others have stated. Honestly Toslink is an old and outdated standard. Fiber optic is great when utilized properly, but Toslink can only handle lossless, uncompressed audio for up to 2 channels, surround must be compressed. HDMI is the better standard for hi def audio, and gold plating is also an unnecessary gimmick when dealing with it as well.

There's generally a pin out diagram provided with any mic showing the wiring. You should see a ground, a - and a + connection represented in the diagram...

Answer:	I'm not 100% certain but it would probably work, presuming you mean an XLR to USB interface such as ART XConnect, Shure X2u, Blue Icicle, MXL Mic Mate, etc. But if you mean a straight wired adapter with no circuitry I feel that would not work. Be aware that the MXL R144 Ribbon mic has low output (like all/most ribbon mics) relative to other types of mics, meaning a pre-amp is typically required. Perhaps the interfaces I mentioned that have integral pre-amp would provide sufficient "oomph" but I don't know.
