User questions & answers

Question: Can is be used outside? Direct 14/4 direct-burial speaker wire
Answer: The wire that I purchased was 14/2 and was not rated for direct-burial or in-wall use. You should look for wire specified for that application. This would not be suitable for that, though I would be comfortable hanging/stringing it along under eaves or a patio roof, so long as it was reasonably sheltered.
Question: i realize this states for in wall but does not specify if UL approved, is it actually UL approved so it will pass building code for in wall use
Answer: Attached is an excerpt from UL.com guide card for AVLV2 category code. It describes how certified wire should be marked. You can check for UL certification at UL.com on-line certification directory if you know manufacturer name or file number. The seller may be able to get you this information for proof of certification. REQUIREMENTS The basic standard used to investigate products in this category is ANSI/UL 758, "Appliance Wiring Material." In addition, IEC TS 60695-11-21, "Fire Hazard Testing - Part 11-21: Test Flames - 500 W Vertical Flame Test Method for Tubular Polymeric Materials," may also be used. UL MARKING Components Recognized under UL's Component Recognition Program are identified by markings consisting of the Recognition Mark of UL (shown below) on the attached tag, the reel, or the smallest unit container in which the product is packaged. In addition to the above tag, reel or container marking, the Recognized Component Mark may optionally be surface printed on the appliance wiring material. When used, the product name "Appliance Wiring Material" (or "AWM") will also be surface printed adjacent to the Recognized Component Mark , followed by the Recognized company's identification and/or file number. If the Recognized company's file number is an element of the surface printing, the Recognized Component Mark is required to also be surface printed. The Listing or Classification Mark of UL is not authorized for use on, or in connection with, Recognized Components. Only those components that actually bear the "Marking" should be considered as being covered under the Component Recognition Program. UR APPLIANCE WIRING MATERIAL or UR AWM
Question: Does anyone know the diameter of the whole cable shield included? Is
Answer: 5/16”
Question: How many strands
Answer: Not asking number of conductors (which is two), but asking how many STRANDS of fine wire in each conductor. An IMPORTANT consideration for speaker cable. A seller should know this info.

Answer: Hello, The jacket of the wire does state it is CM/CL2. Kind Regards, NavePoint Customer Service.
Question: Can this be used for outdoor speakers
Answer: I definitely wouldn’t because I used it indoors and it seemed fine. I had the box in my garage for a few months in Florida here and then I went to use it for my rear patio speakers and the red wires copper clad just came off and I had crappy aluminum wire that was corroding and just kept breaking. I finally got it to work and in less than a month or two the wire corroded and broke off the speaker just on my outdoor set.
Question: Is the 250' length continuous, or generally spiced in the middle
Answer: It is continuous
Question: I was shocked at the price until i read all the fine print, this is copper clad aluminium wire. Has anyone got any feedback on sound quality
Answer: I'm using the onkyo rz1100,,with the klipsch reference speakers and I didn't by hear any feedbacks. I love my sounds . My speakers ranges from 15 to 45 ft apart.
