10 best gls audio banana plugs
GLS Audio banana plugs are a type of audio connector used to terminate speaker cables. These connectors are commonly used in home audio setups, home theaters, and professional audio systems. Here's what you need to know about GLS Audio banana plugs:
Connector Type: Banana plugs are a type of single-wire electrical connector. They are named "banana plugs" due to their distinctive shape, which typically consists of a cylindrical metal pin with a wider, slotted top that resembles a banana.
Terminating Speaker Cables: Banana plugs are used to terminate the ends of speaker cables, making it easier to connect and disconnect speakers from audio equipment such as amplifiers, receivers, and speakers themselves.
Ease of Use: One of the main advantages of banana plugs is their convenience. They provide a secure and reliable connection without the need for soldering or twisting wires together. Simply insert the bare wire ends into the banana plug's slots and secure them with screws or other fastening mechanisms.
Compatibility: GLS Audio banana plugs are designed to be compatible with a wide range of speaker cable sizes and types. They often come with adjustable screws or other mechanisms to accommodate different wire gauges.
Red and Black Color Coding: Banana plugs are typically color-coded, with red representing the positive terminal and black representing the negative terminal. This color coding helps ensure proper polarity when connecting speakers to audio equipment.
Enhanced Audio Quality: Banana plugs provide a secure and low-resistance connection, which can help maintain the integrity of the audio signal and reduce signal loss compared to bare wire connections.
Durability: GLS Audio banana plugs are typically constructed from high-quality materials, such as gold-plated connectors or corrosion-resistant metals, to ensure long-lasting performance and a reliable connection.
Versatility: These banana plugs are suitable for use with a wide range of speaker systems, including bookshelf speakers, floor-standing speakers, subwoofers, and more.
Compatibility with Binding Posts: Banana plugs are often used in conjunction with binding posts on audio equipment. The banana plugs fit into the binding posts' openings, creating a secure and stable connection.
Installation: Installing GLS Audio banana plugs is straightforward and usually requires only a screwdriver or other simple tools. Many come with clear instructions to help users with the installation process.
In summary, GLS Audio banana plugs are a popular choice for connecting speakers to audio equipment due to their ease of use, compatibility, and ability to enhance audio quality. They are a valuable accessory for anyone looking to simplify speaker cable connections while maintaining audio fidelity.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it true that 12ga wire will NOT fit in the holes?? and why not it is a pro audio standard to use 12 ga wire for speaker terminations |
Answer: | No, you only need to buy one. You do need a "Y" interconnect to connect the single subwoofer output on your receiver, or preamplifier, to the stereo inputs in your subwoofer's built-in amplifier. The "Y" interconnect has two male connectors on one end and a single female connector on the other end. The subwoofer output signal from your receiver is monophonic, not stereo. I hope this helps. Good luck. |
Question: | Will these posts fit in the holes provided for the wires to clip in? They look pretty thick |
Answer: | Hello, This particular cable has one connector on each end. We have a version of this cable with 2 connectors: https://amzn.to/2H2QF64 Or we have adapters: https://amzn.to/2H7Ad4J Thanks, Mediabridge Customer Support 856-216-8222 [email protected] |
Question: | Has anyone tried crimping the plastic loop |
Answer: | Only one cord is required to connect to the sub woofer. |
Question: | what holds the wire in place |
Answer: | A great alternative to the poorly-built Sangean ANT-100 is the following: August DTA207 Digital TV Antenna AND the Monoprice 104130 RCA male to F female adapter. (Both items are available on Amazon.) While the August is a tv antenna, it also covers the weather band frequency. You need the adapter to connect the antenna to the RCA jack on the back of the radio.I tried it out with my Motorola MWR839 weather radio (a clone of the Sangean CL-100). It works slightly better than the built-in antenna. So if you can't place the radio where it would best receive the signal, the August DTA207 may do the trick. I had no problems getting the NOAA weather station from Newport, Oregon, from 20 miles away. The August seems built well enough that it will not easily fall apart (unlike the Sangean ANT-100). I never bought a Sangean ANT-100 because of all the bad reviews on Amazon. Why buy a piece of junk when something better is available?People rely on these radios for safety. It is very important to have a good antenna. |

GLS Audio speaker cables are manufactured with the highest grade materials in the industry. The copper wire is rated in AWG spec which stands for "American Wire Gauge". The AWG rating was developed by the USA as a result of some wire manufacturers stating their wire was a certain spec when it really wasn't. You'll notice most imported wire and cable manufacturers will rate their wire in "G" or Gauge (not AWG). The "G" rating can be used for any wire size. For example: A 16G rated cable may only be equivalent to a 24AWG cable (or worse). There are no regulations or specifications on "G" rated cables. How can you determine if a "G" rated cable is the same spec as an AWG cable? Unfortunately, you can't unless you test the power loss per foot. Sometimes the weight may be an indicator. For example: GLS Audio 50ft 12AWG cables weigh about 4lbs whereas most of our competitors weigh about 2.5lbs. This may be a result of the copper wire gauge not being true AWG.
- True 16AWG (American Wire Gauge) Rated up to 2,500 Watts
- Thick 8.5mm Durable & Flexible Rubber Jacket
- Professional Quality and Construction
- Genuine GLS Audio Connectors and Plugs

Question: | I buy last time this banana plugs for my receiver denon avr 6500h i try to inserted but it can't go through i thought this standerd for avr &spea |
Answer: | When new, the plugs are somewhat of a tight fit. Hold the AVR and push firmly. They will fit. |
Question: | My Yahmaha amplifier has flip/squeeze plugs, not the round ones I'm seeing here. Will these work |
Answer: | I tried it on a flip style and they were too big. The measurement of the plug is 0.15" or 3.85mm at the tip, at the widest 0.20" or 5.3mm. Your flip connectors may be larger than my example, a quick msr of the max gauge wire you can use will answer. |
Question: | Can i use these plugs with the speaker cables "rattlesnake 6" with a profile of 6mm^2? or what plugs are to prefer for these cables |
Answer: | This would not work with your speaker cables as FOSCBL-2312 is 4mm. Hope this helps. Thank you. |
Question: | is this a 4mm plug |
Answer: | Yes you are correct, this is a 4mm Banana plug. |

These Silverback banana plugs have the quality you’ve come to expect from Sewell, including gold plated connectors, a heavy duty, but light casing, and a tight cable-screw design. What sets these banana plugs apart is the unique dual-screw lock design. This connection will secure your cable more than a single-screw or open-screw design. Dual-screw connectivity provides a secure connection, durability, and the most crisp and clear signal possible with more signal transmission through contact. Our best banana plug yet!Today, many electronics use the banana plug interface, also known as binding post (referring to this connection in its female form). This female binding post connection that accepts this banana plug is found on virtually all audio/video receivers, speaker wall plates, and more. Banana plugs offer an alternative to inserting a bare speaker wire into your equipment. Often a bare speaker connection is not as reliable as a guaranteed banana plug connection. Wires tend to get pulled out or frizzy after time passes. Banana plugs require only one install, giving you a permanent and robust connector at the end of your speaker wire.
- 24K gold plating on the Connectors for a lifetime of use, with a crystal clear signal
- Double screws, when properly fastened, are said to be as effective as soldering, but clearly with much less hassle.
- Accepts wire size up to 4mm
- The casing unscrews over the tip, so you don't have to worry about keeping it on the cable when installing. For a hassle-free solution
User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work with 12ga wire |
Answer: | This should not have happened. You need to contact the company of the cover because I am sure it is under warranty. This also happen to me and the cover company requested that I send them a 4 ft x 4ft section of the damaged liner. (I'm better sure them paid the postage) We received a new liner after a few weeks. My advise on liners is buy a med grade $90 to $130 dollar one. We throw ours out each year because they never last for the next year. |
Question: | What is the diameter of the bottom opening. Is it wide enough to handle two 12 gauge wires for bi-wire |
Answer: | we did not have to touch it, but I think you would be able to. and this is our 3 year using it no problem, we think however that we might have to purchase another one next year. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of this item |
Answer: | Not as thick as I thought it would be but it worked in our pool. |
Question: | Are these connectors insulated? Meaning if a metal object touches two of them will it blow out the speaker |
Answer: | No you cut it to fit the pool. It will float on the top of the water. But it has to be remove from the pool before anybody get into the water for safety reasons . It works great you will love it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these 4mm or 2mm diameter pins. I need 2mm but none of the good banana plugs are labeled |
Answer: | 4mm. All banana plugs come in one standard size. |
Question: | Can i use these on a 12v system as power feeds? if so how many amps? looking for at least 15a on 12v |
Answer: | That should work fine on a 12v power supply, we use those plugs for a similar purpose on the variable power supply that we have here in the lab. |
Question: | Can I use with 18 gauge speaker wire |
Answer: | Yes 18 gauge stranded wire will work fine. |
Question: | I have the old style speakers that have the connection that you press to push the speaker wire into. Will this work with the new style plugs |
Answer: | If you are asking if the banana plug will fit into the connectors you push the speaker wire into then the answer is probably no. For that type of connector I would consider coating the ends of the speaker wire with a thin layer of solder once the ends are in good shape so they will be easier to connect and disconnect. |
