I would say a minimal but functional strap. The binoculars are really great, I did a lot of research and comparison before getting them and I am 100% satisfied. I have one piece of the magnet connected to the middle of my back on the existing ring which for my vest is a hard plastic. If your ring is metal I could see this being a problem.
