Question: there are light medium and heavy resistance levels in barbell choices. where do you rate these
Answer: That may depend on your percentage of body fat. I'm small, myself (5'3" and about 123 lbs) Some years back, I taught water aerobics and noticed a difference in my bouyancy with a belt if I put on a few pounds - or lost them! Losing body fat meant I sank more. Then, I was quite fit - and doing deep water classes I had to wear their smallest belt, with a larger belt over it (they were not like this belt - they were shaped more like giant curved yellow french fries) I use my AquaJogger to work out at Rainbow Springs, a natural spring with a swimming area, along with waterproof bluetooth headphones and a waterproof pouch for my phone. I've used it two summers, and it holds my head, neck, and shoulders above the water. I'm very happy with the way it balances me, and as these type things go, it's a comfortable fit. As with the belts I used years ago, my body fat percentage is the 'deal breaker', not weight, when it comes to how bouyant I am in the water. My waist, now, is about 26 or 27" (I'm 62.. the body part I miss the most is my WAIST! ) There's about an inch and a half of 'gap' when I tighten the belt. That might be significant for you.

Answer: I would recommend either the Fit belt or the Active belt. The fit belt is contoured for the shorter waisted women. Since you are on the shorter side i think this one would be the most comfortable for you. The Active belt is cut and contoured the same way but it comes with a cheaper black belt while the Fit comes with an elastic, more durable black belt. They will both give you the same amount of buoyancy and same quality workout.

Answer: Hello, my waist is 40" and I pull the belt tight and have 4 inches of flap pulled through the buckle. It works well while swimming. One feature I love the most is you wear this belt and the body is free to exercise with no restrictions. I weigh 245.

Answer: I am 5'3" and about 123 lbs. I wear a size six or eight - and I've got mine adjusted as tight as it can be adjusted in order to get it to fit. The quandary is this: If you are lean, and most of your weight is muscle mass, the smaller belt might not provide enough bouyancy. Years ago, I taught aquatic aerobics classes (FUN!) and when we did deepwater classes, we had belts that were not shaped to the body. I wore a small one, because it fit my waist.. but it would not hold me up high enough to conduct the class (I sank to my chin!) so I used two. Bought this belt while anticipating meniscus surgery, followed 2 mos later by a hiking trip to TN. Doing my 'puddle aerobics' in the natural springs at Rainbow River got me plenty fit for hiking. I LOVE my belt!

Answer: Not really...it is for holding your head and chest out of the water while your legs do a work out under the water. You would waste a lot of energy trying to keep your legs up level with your body..but I guess it would be better than nothing if you can hardly swim.

Answer: You can, but it is difficult. They are on tight. I really don't think this is meant as a way to learn to swim. Even when exercising with it on, actual swimming is strange. It is meant for when your legs are down.

Answer: Frankly speaking, this belt with 6 floaters does not support my weight in the water. "Help! I am sinking!". I am around 180 pounds. I bought this because it is compact. It might work perfectly if several more floaters can be added to it.

Answer: The buoyancy belts consist of the floatation piece and belting that fastens in the front . The standard belting size is 45 inches and is adjustable to fit most people. Longer belts are available for those with larger waist sizes. The primary difference is the amount of floatation or thickness of the floatation piece. The plus sizes have the maximum floatation and are especially good for people that tend to be sinkers when they try to tread water without a buoyancy belt. The AquaJogger Active belt comes with a non elastic belt and all of the other have an elastic belt. The Shape belt was developed for individuals with larger waists and the Fit belt for those with a narrower waist.
Question: Would this be good to use for snorkeling
Answer: The foam part is 25" overall length and 10 1/4" tall in the back at the tallest point in the back center. As it wraps around the waist the 10 1/4" dimension reduces to about 4 1/4" on each side for about the last 6 1/2". The adjustable belt is 2" high and will extend from the 25" length of foam to about 20" more of waistline although I think if someone had a full 45" waistline they would be better served with a larger unit. My wife has the belt at about 8" for about 33" total and it works great for her. It could probably be tightened a bit more and still be useful for a smaller person. She is 5'-0" and 105 lbs.

Answer: The belt fit up to a 52" waist. There is no maximum weight rating listed for this product on the TYR website. I assume that since it fits a 52" waist that you should have no problem at 260 pounds. I'm 215 pounds, love to snorkel, and it kept me on top of the water very well.
