Answer:	I don't think you need to use the rug pad, however, I have tile floors so I needed to use it. You should contact the mfg. and also ask about keeping area rugs in place. Sorry I could not be more helpful..

Answer:	This rug contains no rubber so it is not a non skid rug. I have had non skid rug pads in the past that had rubber in them. These pads left a residue on my hardwood floors that required considerable work to remove. This time to avoid that I ordered two 100% recycled felt pads, a 6 x 9 and a 9 x 12. Both of the rugs on top of the pads are thick and heavy so there is no shifting or skidding even without furniture being on them. If your rugs are a not heavy and are a smaller size and you aren't covering hardwood floors, then I might consider a pad with some rubber in it. That should prevent the rug and rug pad from shifting.
