| Answer: | I am in Melbourne Australia. I have fibre to the curb FTTC. The fibre beneath the nature strip is connected to our MDF (main distribution frame). I was provided with an NTD (network terminating device) by the NBN Co and a wifi router by my telco (telstra). If I had fibre directly into my flat/premises (FTTP) the connection would make the MDF redundant but I would still require an NTD and a wifi router. My RT-AX56u is effectively connected by a crossover cable to the telstra router. I use it to authenticate wifi only and as a switch. In Australia your telco will always provide you with a configurable wifi router to connect to the NTD. Although I have not tried it, my best guess is that the RT-AX56u probably could take the place of the telstra wifi router. It is the NTD which provides the connection to the NBN. |
