| Answer: | Yes! These actually have a good range well into the mid-bass area. I've used many of the 6" 8" and 10" versions in custom 2-way configurations and they sound awesome! I typically use two decent tweeters (NEVER piezo), two 2-way crossovers, and one of these in the middle using the dual voice coil to handle both the left and right lows. (Note that if used in this type of 3-speaker configuration, the DVC must be located between the tweeters to preserve the stereo soundstage.) I usually make my pieces (it's a hobby) as stand-alone Bluetooth units with 100-200 watt amps, and they get very loud and maintain great bass punch (enclosure must be rigid). Best of all, I've used about 30 of these over the last few years, and none of them have blown or gone bad. |

| Answer: | If "free air" means no box, then no, it won't work very well as a sub-woofer. If you mean a ported enclosure, then yes it will work well. A ported enclosure will give it a "boomey" kind of sound, which is fine for some types of music like hip- hop or metal. A sealed enclosure will make the bass sound tighter which is better for other types of music. The sealed enclosure will also require more power to drive the sub. Mine gets 100 watts continuous and I have used both types of enclosures. I'm skeptical about that 600 watt rating. |

| Answer: | 8 ohms. But keep in mind they're not not very efficient so you'll need good power to drive them to 'party' levels. Also, many of these intstallations are distant from the amp, so on a 50 ft run, if you use less than 12ga wire, the effective resistance will increase significantly, meaning even a more powerful amp needed. |

| Answer: | I have had a pair of Bose 51s for five years and just recently added two 8" premiums w/8" premium subwoofer to my backyard. Have to say, highs are still crisper and mid-range sound is more natural with the high millage Bose pair than with the TIC setup. I compared side by side and the TIC has a little better bass output (not surprising with three 8" drivers) but overall sound is still more pleasing with Bose. No regrets, I am not returning anything but my next pair if/when the Bose give out will be another set of 51s. |
