Answer:	These shear's blades are 2 1/2" tip to pivot, and 7 3/4 " overall. They are heavy duty with a strong spring. The tapered point makes them easier to use than bypass type pruners, although wont cut thicker branches like the heavier blades of a bypass. I'd say they are good for about 1/4". The dont have super sharp ends like some of the snips used for flower pruners, a little more rounded. I carry them around as a good general purpose tool.Jim.

Answer:	Can’t say for sure without taking mine apart, but my guess would be 1/4-28 fine thread. Take the screw to your local hardware store and find a nut that fits. Note it must be a locknut or else you will need to stake it after adjustment.

Answer:	Yes, needle nose types are not capable of pruning tough sucker growth and the bypass pruners may prove to be overkill. Since I don't know what plant you are pruning back its sucker growth, I can only recommend the cutting tools I keep in my gardening tool bag: 1 pair of "Due Cigni Grape/Herb Shears available at www.growitalian.com; 1 pair of Herb Scissors available at www.botanticalinterests.com; 2 pairs of needle nose pruning shears; 2 bypass hand pruners; 1 pair of Fiskars softouch Micro Tip pruning snips; 1 pairs of the small bypass loppers; and 1 pair of the large bypass loppers; plus various scissors. Sucker growth varies in thickness - tomato plant suckers can be pinched of, however it is best to use snips or pointed scissors; blackberry suckers require a bypass hand pruner or equal. I hope this helped you a bit.

Answer:	Hi, not sure for when you need the holster or scabbard. I did use a piece of pool noodle to slip over the shears in the drawer but just carry it when using it around the yard.

Question:	Is this a pattern that is possible to make by hand? I would really love to do this but I do not have a sewing machine
Answer:	I actually the long straight for dead heading, cutting flowers, light pruning, many daily gardening tasks (snipping slugs). These are always in my hip pocket.. the thinning shears I save for woody stuff.. but as my arthritis gets worse, I use the thinning shears less and less and prefer a good bypass cutter, then I head straight for the loppers (I keep two sizes light and a heavy duty. don't skimp on loppers, the cheap one's handles break)
