Step 1—Clean:

Remove laces from shoes. For best results, wipe your shoes thoroughly clean with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris, which can get embedded in leather if it is not cleaned off prior to polishing. Allow shoes to dry before applying polish.

Step 2—Condition:

If leather is dry or cracked, apply a leather conditioner with a clean cotton cloth and allow to dry before moving to the next step (leather conditioner NOT included with kit).

Step 3—Shine:

Use the shine sponge to apply shoe wax evenly to the entire body of the shoe. Use the small brush to rub polish deep into the area between the heel & shoe uppers. Take care to apply a thin, even layer of wax polish to avoid inconsistent spotting on the leather. Let the polish dry before proceeding to the next step.

Question:	I have black boots with cut outs for different colored leather and also some gold painted swirls on the leather. Will this polish take the paint off
Answer:	I use this to break in and maintain all my Danner leather boots as well as my dress shoes (from other brands). It works great and keeps the leather from cracking and seems to help repair minor abrasion damage. I didn't use a brush at first, for years, but that helps too.
Question:	How can we open the cans of paste? Even with the screw latches,neither my husband nor I can open them
Answer:	It does have a mild smell much the same as a mink oil dressing. Whether or not deer can smell the boot dressing I've no idea. For me the waterproof quality out weighed any smell concerns. I've not noted any animal detection of the boot treatment. Applied animal scents to clothing wal more than cover any scent from the boot dressing. Does the dressing work? Yes, it does everything it states it does.
Question:	Is it water proof/resistant
Answer:	I usually take the oil and put on my hands and rub my boots like I would apply lotion on myself. I let them sit out and usually by morning my boots have absorbed the oil. If not a rag would be fine to use to remove the excess. You don't want them wet enough where dirt will stick to them.
Question:	Although it's clear, will this polish darken/affect the true color of the leather
Answer:	Boot Guard does not, itself, contain any dyes. So if the original surface of the tanned leather was totally destroyed, Boot Guard can't return color definition. If the leather is merely faded and looking a little worn out, though, Boot Guard is ideal -- it saturates and seals the leather so that the color is normalized across the leather surface. If the leather has never been conditioned, and you're not sure if you're going to like the color, we recommend testing a little patch of Boot Guard in an inconspicuous spot. Once you know what the couch will look like, you'll have a better idea of whether or not you want to treat an entire couch with it.

Answer:	As long as they are suede or nubuck, you should be ok. Keep in mind: the lining in uggs and bearclaws might get wet when you apply the liquids (it does soak through), so be ready to let it dry for a while.

Answer:	I don't see why it wouldn't work on black shoes. I used it on light brown colored shoes figuring I was taking a chance because light color can turn darker with some products. I was thrilled that after the process was complete and they stood overnight, the shoes returned to their original light brown color but were just CLEANER! .

Answer:	i use the sealant on just the cork, and the cleaner on all the shoe.

Answer:	Yes. The black insole stain from foot is dirt,oil,sweat.becomes black and sticky. This stuff if used with the brush in kit, will make them clean, fresh smelling and look new again. It's a great product. Cindy in Florida.

Answer:	Yes, it should. The description says, "Works on all washable (meaning you can wet the fabric and lightly scrub) leathers, vinyl, nubuck, suede, etc." I think Timberlands are leather/nubuck or something like that.

Answer:	I wouldn't use it on suede. I use a butter knife on my suede shoes, as in if there is a spot or stain, I take the butter knife and gently scrub the spot or stain out, or a suede brush and eraser, suede is in a grain pattern, so you can either go back and forth, or in the opposite direction of the grain. Then get a good suede protector.
