Answer:	It depends on the length and size of the needles, and the thickness of the yarn. For example, I knit a lot using size 8 (5 mm) needles. I use a worsted weight yarn that typically gives me 5 stitches to the inch. If my needles are 60 inches long, I could get as many as 300 stitches on the needles. Actually, you can push the stitches closer together and get a few more, and stretch it out for fewer stitches. That is actually more comfortable to work with, I think.
