So, your entire ankle will be covered and supported when these boots are completely laced up. With that said, I would say that these boots will rise about 2.5 to 3 inches above your ankle - depending on how big of a person you are. |

The last pair I purchased was at a specility store and the only size they had was 11 1/2. The sales clerk talked me into purchasing them. I could not wear them untill I purchased some special heal cushions that have 3M backing and placed on the upper inside back of the shoe. Hope this helps! |

| Answer: | It doesn't. You have to yank the tab, which pull/pushes a striker into the Co2 cartridge and inflates it. I've fallen and even gone swimming in the ocean with this on. You're all set. You can even manually inflate it with a tube. It's a chest-life-vest design, so once it's blown up you put a loop over the back of your head. Good design and minimalist. I bought it for paddle-boarding and it works great. Make sure you rinse it thoroughly and hang it to dry (you can unfold it easily without inflating it with the cartridge), there are instructions on the actual inflated part that show you how to fold it back up again. Get a re-charge kit and a packet of safety-seals (you need those if you inflate it with the cartridge) so you can put it all back together again. But like I said, in a pinch you can blow air into it and it works like a life vest very well. |
