BUILT TO THE STANDARDS OF THE BACKCOUNTRY
The Powderhorn is built rugged and ready to face whatever might arise come thick timber, scree filled slopes, or barren exposed ridges. Our iconic stitchdown construction creates a wide platform and excellent stability that’s durable and allows for recrafting when the time comes. To shave weight and lighten each step we turned to our new bi-fit technology. By combining the midsole and shank into one piece it allows for lighter weight and increased comfort, and the durability we insist on.
REFINING A LEGEND
For over 80 years, we've been committed to a continuous cycle of refining and improving our boot construction process and materials. When it came to our beloved Bob outsole, we knew there was a way for it to evolve to meet the needs of the next generation of hunters. Prompted by years of learning and time spent in the field, we swapped in pointed multi-directional lugs for greater longevity and increased durability when the terrain gets rocky. Sharpened external lugs continue the increased traction, but help maintain the debris shedding reputation the former Bob had been known for.
SUPERIOR COMFORT FOR EASIER HUNTING
The Powderhorn looks like the rugged hunting boot it is. Tall and trail tough with full-grain leather, GORE-TEX waterproofing and a toothy outsole. But inside we made sure to deliver unexpected comfort. A floating tongue lifts the liner off the foot to provide better air circulation for cooler feet over long miles. Strategically placed foam panels provide more cushioning where you need it, while the removal of foam in unnecessary areas helped us shave off weight. Rest easy knowing your feet will be comfy for each step in the field - first or last.
THE NEXT STEP IN A RICH HERITAGE
With decades of inspiration and a high bar to clear, we wanted our Powderhorn to honor our hunting boot heritage, while moving forward with today's footwear advancements. We designed the Powderhorn to be a thoroughly modern boot with new technology that raises its comfort, performance, and durability, while retaining an aesthetic that instantly recalls our hunting history. With the Powderhorn you get everything you expect from Danner when it comes to hunting - full-grain leather, rugged outsoles, waterproofing, and reliable versatility - all refined, improved, and ready to venture even further afield.

WORTH THE WAIT
For close to two decades, the Pronghorn boot has been a trusted cornerstone in the Danner hunt line. Any update to the Pronghorn comes with a lot of responsibility to our customers who rely on this iconic boot. As such, the fifth generation is the culmination of many years of Pronghorn history and today’s cutting-edge footwear technology. Built on our TERRA FORCE NEXT platform, the Pronghorn delivers the all-day comfort and stability that make the day’s haul easier on your feet. Full-grain leather that’s passed our exacting quality tests forms the upper around our proven 851 last. To cope with unpredictable weather in the field, we built the Pronghorn with a GORE-TEX waterproof liner that keeps moisture out and lets your feet breathe. And for those headed out into cold climates, the Pronghorn is also available with PrimaLoft insulation.
FIVE GENERATIONS OF TECHNOLOGY
Just because a boot was top of the line doesn’t mean it stays there. The drive to improve has to be constant. For the fifth generation of the Pronghorn, we applied the latest technology and premium components to ensure it continues to be the top of the line hunting boot you demand. For this generation, we upgraded to our new TERRA FORCE NEXT platform with a series of proven components that work together to ensure support, comfort and responsiveness. A bi-fit board adds improved stability, while the Vibram SPE midsole provides a combination of superior cushioning and durability. We then paired the midsole with a combined internal and external shank system that provides arch support and excellent torsion control. All told, 5 new layers of technology were combined for our most comfortable and supportive platform on the Pronghorn yet.
THE BEST PROTECTION FOR THE WORST WEATHER
The ingredients you put into a boot dictate the quality of the finished product. That’s part of why we’re so rigorous in our components’ standards. With the Pronghorn, we sought out the premier technology available to build a boot ready for any weather you might run into. Industry-leading experts at GORE-TEX provide the waterproof membrane to keep your feet dry from inside and out. Premium, oiled nubuck leather gives the boot a richer look and feel over previous generations. And when the forecast is frigid, we opted to offer PrimaLoft insulation to bring the best weight-to-warmth ratios to the Pronghorn.
A RETURN TO THE FAVORITE FIT
When it came time to build the fifth generation Pronghorn, we returned to the>TERRA FORCE NEXT platform for increased support and stability. To finish it off, we worked with Vibram to create a premium, all-new Pronghorn outsole to provide reliable traction on rugged terrain. Year after year, we hone the Pronghorn to be the best boot you can hunt in. Proven time and again.
SOME TRADITIONS ARE WORTH PASSING ON. SOME ARE WORTH PERFECTING.
We all walk a fine line between change for the sake of new versus change because it creates something better. As we developed the fourth generation Pronghorn, we looked back at the previous two decades of our most iconic boot. We extracted the best parts from each generation and created the new Pronghorn.

User questions & answers
Question: | are they made in the USA |
Answer: | Unfortunately not but with my Wide E width foot I can't Buy only American made. Wish I could |
Question: | Will these boots keep your feet warm in the snow |
Answer: | I've used these boots in snow several times....granted it was snow pack most of the time but have hike 6 miles in the snow with no problems on different occasions. Take this with a grain of salt cause I was continuously moving and had good circulation going on. As with just about any boot that is called waterproof with the exception of 300-500 dollar mountaineering boots, once they get good and soaked for hours your feet will eventually get wet. I have sprayed extra waterproofing on mine twice now as a back-up. These boots are solid hiking boots....i have put a couple hundred miles on mine so far with just wear on the soles to show for it. |
Question: | What is the heel toe drop on these |
Answer: | This is a wedge vibram sole. Pretty even |
Question: | do these boots have a waterproof membrane like gortex or is the leather just waterproof |
Answer: | It has a waterproof membrane. I was fishing and my boots were in the water from time to time. My feet were dry. |

Explore Beyond the Familiar
Inspired by decades of legendary hiking boots, we partnered with Vibram to forge a new path in hiking footwear for men and women. The Mountain 600 defines a new category in hiking boots we call Performance Heritage — combining our classic styling with lightweight innovation. Explore beyond the familiar.
Vibram SPE Midsole
The Danner Mountain 600 features the Vibram SPE (Specialized Performance Elastomer) midsole, an all-new, technical compound engineered to deliver greater comfort and flexibility. Created with a unique co-polymer blend of synthetic natural rubber and EVA, this midsole improves resiliency, cushioning, and durability, while minimizing weight.
Vibram Fuga Outsole with MegaGrip
By combining the SPE midsole with the Vibram Fuga outsole, we were able to achieve the perfect balance between flexibility and traction. The pliable SPE midsole and flex lines of the Fuga outsole allow your foot to expand to a wider surface, while the unique self-adaptive lug pattern grips at multiple angles. This combination provides ultimate stability when traversing across rocky trails or scree. The entire outsole is injected with Vibram’s Megagrip rubber technology for ultimate hold on wet and dry terrain.
Waterproof Protection
Drawing from years spent building durable leather hiking boots, we selected a specific suede for the Mountain 600, knowing that its lighter weight, waterproof and superior abrasion-resistant qualities would hold up to the rugged Pacific Northwest. We designed the boot to have minimal seams and lined it with Danner Dry to ensure it could withstand the wettest conditions.

User questions & answers
Question: | I orderd 9.5d and it happened to be a bit small, and there were no insoles. why? should i order 10 or |
Answer: | Mine did not have any insoles either. I bought some nice gel ones from Wal-Mart that were made in the USA. You would think with the price you have to pay they would be included. I wear 9.5 in shoes. However, when I buy boots I buy 10 because I often use heavy socks in my boots. Mine (in 10's) felt a little tight at first but they loosened up after some wear. I am not sure how tight they are for you but you may want to wear them around the house for a bit and see if they loosen up before returning them. In the house the soles will not wear and you will still be able to return them. I am in my 60's and remember when I was a kid that good shoes were tight when you got them and they loosened up as they wore. These are constructed like shoes use to be and will need some breaking in. The other thing is to keep them laced tight or they will give you blisters. After a fair amount of break in I really like mine. BTW is anything mine are a little loose now. Good Luck |
Question: | I bought it to ride motorcycles. Any information you eant to share with me |
Answer: | I also ride. Although these are great boots, I do not recommend them for motorcycle riding. They do not offer the protection that similar priced motorcycle specific boots would offer. |
Question: | is this type |
Answer: | Type of my boots - 30800. What is 30800ï¼ I do not know |
Question: | I have a pair of alpine gaiters, with the instep strap and lace hooks. Will they work with this boot |
Answer: | I have used gaiters with these boots. They have enough of a heel to secure a instep strap and laces that will secure the toe hook. |
