| Answer: | The tongue stud prevents the tongue from moving out of position & slightly stiffens the boot by adding rigidity. You don't need to lace in a particularly special way--I find when I lace the boots up, the stud generally just is in the right spot and the laces nest into the groves. |

| Answer: | I have three pairs of these (because I like them). The oldest has gone ~300 miles on very rocky and occasionally wet terrain, including substantial off-trail use. They show a little wear on the uppers and the soles are about half gone - but they can (and will) be resoled, one nice feature of these boots. If you care about functionality more than cosmetics, I expect these will last at least 1000 miles and possibly far longer. |
