Answer:	A simple way to define a textured outsole is to say it is a raised print along the (rubber) sole of the shoe/sandal; craftsmanship, more than cosmetics. In my opinuon its actually attractive and adds to the overall rugged look of the sandal. It's not really noticeable on the other hand, unless it's in your hand-again cosmetic. Look at the pictures again on the Amazon site, zoom in and you'll be able to see the texture/print along the (rubber) sole.

Answer:	Timberland White Ledge boots are not insulated and so are not particularly warm in and of themselves. However, because they're mostly leather with few seams, they are very waterproof (many boots claim to be waterproof but are not--too many seams and non-leather parts) and keep your feet dry which helps keep them comfortable. You can buy insulated boots, but unless you're like my sister-in-law (her feet are always cold), they will be too warm in the summer. I much prefer to wear a non-insulated boot and then make them feel warmer/cooler by wearing wool socks in winter and cotton socks in summer. As long as your feet stay dry and you have good moisture-wicking wool socks, this sock method works for me in the winter. Make sure there's enough room in the boots for thicker wool socks--cramped feet will always feel cold.

Answer:	Yes, it works on snow. It is the very first shot boot I ever have. And if you notice I use "IS" not "WAS", because I am still wearing it now, since 2004. It is 15 years already. I only use it in winter time and raining day when the weather condition will not be safe with regular sneakers. I use this boot as snow day shoes in each year, for 15 years now, and the shoe is still in very good condition. I am thinking to get a second pair in different color now. BUT, I will not give this boot a 5 -star rating due to the very poor design of the show lace. For no reason, this round shoe lace constantly got loose when I was walking. After many years' upset with the original round shoe lace, I replaced it with regular flat shoe lace and it works very well now. Therefore, I suggest you also get a regular flat shoe lace ready when the round lace is not properly holding up, so you can just replace it.

I submitted a warranty claim to Timberland (all the paperwork and photos required - it was like a timewarp back to the 1980s - fill out this form, answer these questions, provide photographic proof, and submit a receipt :)) and they rejected it because my Amazon purchase was through an "unauthorized seller." Answer:	400 grams. I don't know why amazon can't make descriptions more clear. I live in Minnesota and these are good until single digits cold. Then you might want the 8 inch that come in 1000 grams, which is what I do. Switching between these and the 8 inch boondocks....have had them for 4 years and still going good. Anti fatigue are the most comfortable boots I ever had.

Answer:	These are more water resistant than water proof ( like a rubber wader) . They become much less water resistant with time . A treatment with a thick rub on type snow proofing product when you get them new will really help . Repeat as needed .

Answer:	No, these boots are no longer waterproof. Since 2016 they do not contain goretex. Mine started to leak in slushy snow after 3 weeks of use. These boots have been cheapened but the cost for them went up.
Question:	Can you put black wax on them
Answer:	Yes, they are perfect boots for shoveling snow. If you are in deep snow, get some gaiters and you have an awesome set of snow boots. Be sure to care for your boots by using a silicone rub such as kiwi minkoil. By the way, in the last 6 years I have been through 4 pairs of these awesome boots. I use them for my job (package delivery) and use them for outdoor activities like 5-15 mile hikes. Get some SOLE Ultra insoles and these puppies will keep your feet painfree especially if you are on you feet for 10-15 hours/day. The only bad part is that the tread wears out pretty fast. But that is probably my fault because I cover so many miles (~300 miles/pair) on them on the concrete, asphalt and mountain trails. I'll stop there, I love these boots and hope they never change them!!

Answer:	It will take a lot of walking to find a jungle in the Himalayas as the Himalayas are a mountain range, though tigers are found in the Bhutan over 13,000 feet. Yes these boots will hold up - mine are over 12 years old and only now is the rubber starting to perish. Been through bushveld hiking in hot and humid South Africa and below -29 Celsius in the Alps!
