Haven't tried any foam mattress on top of it-- not necessary for comfort, they're good on their own, but a piece of foam would probably make the cots quieter to sleep on. Every time you shift around in your sleep the cot fabric kinda squeaks. |

| Answer: | I've used these boots in snow several times....granted it was snow pack most of the time but have hike 6 miles in the snow with no problems on different occasions. Take this with a grain of salt cause I was continuously moving and had good circulation going on. As with just about any boot that is called waterproof with the exception of 300-500 dollar mountaineering boots, once they get good and soaked for hours your feet will eventually get wet. I have sprayed extra waterproofing on mine twice now as a back-up. These boots are solid hiking boots....i have put a couple hundred miles on mine so far with just wear on the soles to show for it. |

Yes, I got snow in my shoe as I sunk into extremely deep spots but it handled admirably and dried extremely quick. Very impressed that after such a long/wet/snowy hike that they dried and my feet showed no symptoms of being water logged or uncomfy. You can get those snow covers for boots and they fit these shoes just fine. Mine were the low cuts |

| Answer: | You're going to want to sun dry them for several hours. Lets say it takes 6 after 3 hours put fabric softner sheets in the front like 2 or 3 each. Also it would be good to wash them. Let them sit in a bucket of warm water with some non damaging soap (use a old toothbrush to clean the nooks and crannies). This process takes 1.5 days one day to clean .5 to dry. |

| Answer: | I take a size 10. When I bought my Moab 1 a few years ago, I bought a size 10 and they were too small. I had to by a 10.5 and wore those comfortably for years. I recently bought a pair of Moab 2 in a 10.5 and it was too small. |

The only time my socks/feet got wet were when (1) I forgot to wear my rain pants and rain soaked through my outdoor pants down my socks into the shoes and, (2) when I unknowingly stepped into a deep marsh that pushed the water over and into the shoes. |

| Answer: | I have a narrow foot and the shoe was a perfect fit for me. Regarding the sand, I guess if your foot goes in too deep then you need a shoe that won't easily come off, as some people loose shoes in the sand. Otherwise it's the perfect shoe for me. I was wearing Merrell moab before and have no complaints with that either. |

| Answer: | The model has to say Ultra 3 GTX Wide, this is not the same model. Salomon should really make this clear in their ads. |

| Answer: | I think they're the same. Merrill calls it simply "W" for wide, whereas Amazon uses 2E to denote "wide", probably trying to be consistent with the many other brands they carry. I notice that another retailer I've bought Merrell's from just calls them "wide", not E or EE or anything else. I'm quite sure Merrell has only one level of "wide". |

| Answer: | Got my ventilators from REI, I don’t think so but I haven’t tested them heavily. I thought the ventilators had the M-select waterproofing (not gortex) technology but they might not. At least I know they don’t have gore-Tex. I am fine with that, because waterproofing, especially gortex, contains toxic fluoropolymers similar to Teflon. I don’t want to chronically expose myself to that unless waterproofing is absolutely critical, besides, these shoes dry pretty quickly. |
