User questions & answers
Question: | is this composite toes |
Answer: | I think it is real leather (I have 2 pairs of these boots), if not it is an extremely good imitation. |
Question: | is this breathable |
Answer: | This boot comes with a wide toe box. I usually wear 4e in New Balance shoes and wear the wide width Merrill Moabs. I specifically went to a retailer for my first pair and the 10 regular fit my 10-4e foot like a glove (with a medium weight hiking sock). I ordered a second pair through Amazon and they fit the same. Good luck. |
Question: | is this good for a hot and humid environment |
Answer: | Yes. I wear a size 13 shoe and I need a wide boot. I have the size 14 and they are perfect. They allow me to wear heavier socks without cramping my feet. |
Question: | is this recommended for a hot and humid environment |
Answer: | The Revel IV does not come in wide at this time. That being said, it is one of our original fits so it will fit wider than the industry standard. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how many inches is heel...im short fella & insecure with that...thank you all |
Answer: | D is standard width. E is wider. I believe M is the same as D, or Medium. |
Question: | steel toe |
Answer: | Yes. I do that with my Keens all the time. I have always worn the Targhee but just bought these for the first time. The people who recommend the Merrell Chameleon and say these aren't "slip ons" don't understand what you are asking; I do. I just bought these and wore them for the first time yesterday. When getting ready for bed, I slipped them off in the closet and this morning I was able to slip them back on fine. I push my foot as far forward as I can get it before attempting to slip the heel down. Once they're on, I bump the toe and then the heel against the floor to even out my socks. These work fine. |
Question: | The Keen website says these run a half size small and recommends ordering a half size larger. Is this true |
Answer: | It does not open all the way to the toe. It opens clear to the top of the foot. |
Question: | How wide is the wide version of this shoe? Is the normal shoe now narrower than in previous versions |
Answer: | Probably sell more size 9 then 8.5 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this boot steel toe |
Answer: | I have a size 13 foot and usually wear a 13. These Keens fit just like the other Targhee's but better. So if you are a 13, I'd buy a 13. I ABSOLUTELY love these shoes! |
Question: | Why doesn't the Targhee 2 Mid WP Hiking Boot come in wide sizes like the Targhee 2 Mid Boot? Is there any diff in WP capabilities between the two |
Answer: | I usually were an E or EE width. This shoe is perfectly comfortable for me. |
Question: | Has anyone had a problem with these boots not being waterproof |
Answer: | These are a D width but I've found them to be the widest D boots that Keen makes. I've tried 10+ Keen shoes and boots and these have the widest toe box. If you buy them from Amazon make sure to check the Manufacture date. I've bough some new ones that were 3 years old and the glue holding the tread started coming apart in 4 months. Thankfully Keen replaced them for free. (I've owned 4 pair of these over the years and have loved these boots) |
Question: | how to make sure the size |
Answer: | These shoes were never intended to be waterproof. They are ventilated so that your feet can breath. They are however not damaged by walking through creeks. Your feet will get wet. These shoes will put up with everything you can hike through and not fail on you. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm going on a cruise, and want to know if these would be good for the slippery decks on cruise ships |
Answer: | I live in the mountains in northern Colorado and I've worn (and worn out) Keen Targhee boots for many years. They're the most comfortable boots I've found. But they are not really waterproof. I would describe them as "water resistant". They work fine for awhile in heavy dew or an occasional step into a puddle that isn't too deep; but in drenched grass or continuous rain, my feet get soaking wet. I have tried wearing gators under my pant legs and over the Targhee's and that helps considerably - but my feet still get wet if I am hiking in wet conditions for several hours. I have a pair of Asolo boots with goretex that I wear in those conditions - but they aren't as comfortable. |
Question: | Can these be used during times especially for snow days |
Answer: | Do you have wide sizes |
Question: | Some of the colors pictured are in the Mid size shoe. Are they really different styles, or are they simply showing available colors |
Answer: | Assuming the heel is made to the same tolerance across the wide band of sizes of this shoe/boot, mine (size 14E) is around 1.5 to 1.75 (1-1/2" to 1-3/4") tall. And on a personal note, there are many perks with being shorter in life and don't let your height affect your outlook in life... Hope this helps you.. |
Question: | I usually wear 11 wide, which size should i order |
Answer: | The Targhee II is just a hiking style and does not offer any kind of safety toe. If you'd like a similar style with a steel toe I'd recommend the Detroit Mid Steel Toe boot! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Composite or steel toe |
Answer: | The styles and fit are the same, only difference is color. Hope this helps Paul |
Question: | Are these ESD |
Answer: | I would try the size 11. I usually wear size 12.5, but since that's an oddball size I have to wear size 12's and hope they're long enough. I have narrow feet, but wear large woolSocks most of the time and still have plenty of room in the footbed.Keens will stretch and conform to your foot as you wear them, even if they're a little snug at first. |
Question: | Do these meet astm f2413-18 standards |
Answer: | This is not a steel toe boot. |
Question: | Is it dielectric |
Answer: | I'm not sure. I buy a 1/2 size bigger to accommodate the width. I've found the size increase (really about an 1/8 inch) is no factor....as I wear thicker socks at time and thinner as needed. The extra length puts the ball of my foot in the right place. I wear generic orthotics to save my feet (consider it, plantar facitutus sucks). Thin sock season? Put a thin Dr Scholls underneath. Ok...generic too. |

Question: | Are these boots insulated |
Answer: | I used these to climb Quandary with a fresh dump of 24" of snow in a very wet spring.
