Gold plated jewelry shouldn’t be ever wiped or polished with any coarse fabrics, as you can gradually rub off the plating. Answer:	Don’t know for sure, but considering the price I paid I would be inclined to believe that it is brass rather than gold or gold plate. Also gold plate will wear away after a period of time, and this has not done so.
