Answer:	Just bought them for my husband after reading reviews, details & doing some measuring. They are definitely NOT above the knee. The MEASUREMENT on the out seam is 20+ inches. He was looking for regular swim trunks, not the long legged ones, & was extremely dissappointed.

I typically wear a Large (36-38 waist) and, in fact, OTHER Kanu swim shorts not only fit but have almost been somewhat too big. This very particular style must be a special cut or style because I could not get the WAIST more than 2 inches above my knee and am returning them. I imagine if I'd forced them on, the waist would have probably fit but would have been like spandex on my legs. They were nice looking and all, just nowhere near the overall size/cut/style I expected from the chart so figured I'd post a bit of warning to anyone with...I guess...larger than average legs. There's always the possibility I got an oddball pair, too, but I'm thinking these are a "modern" or "slim" style. . .

This is the best suit I've owned, the length is great and it has lots of pockets, and it looks good. If he's really going swimming, get him a sleevless top too, unless he's especially proud of his man boobs. Also if he's going to the beach you can get one that is UV resistant. This suit is polyester, but it almost feels like cotton. It dries fast, though not as fast as a nylon suit. I've washed mine 4 times and it still looks new, and it didn't bleed in the laundry. I wear mine 3 days a week for water fitness classes. If your Dad is anything like me he'll love it!
