SkinCancer.org's webpage "Sun-protective clothing" advises to check a fabric by holding it up to light, since if you can see through it, UV radiation will readily reach your skin. Having this product in black, and holding a single, unstretched layer of the fabric up to modest, household light, I can basically see right through it.
