Answer:	I have never heard that humidity is a significant factor in choosing the right rosin. Dark rosin is generally stickier than light and this is the primary reason that people choose one over the other.

Answer:	As long as it rosin for a bow, it should be ok.

Answer:	Some people do and some dont but my daughter takes a little piece of sandpaper or coin to lightly break the glossy seal of the rosin when its new. Tighten your bow and stroke it back and forth across the rosin before playing. You'll have to experiment with your own instrument to figure out exactly how many strokes is enough but if it's a brand new string with no rosin ever applied I'd give it at least 40-50 strokes to start.

Answer:	Viola players might say no. As a cellist I'll say yes. Considering the purpose of rosin, I find that it is what I'll call a "mild" affect for pulling a string. I use it on new bows or newly re-haired bows, for which I think it is excellent. As the hair gets older and worn in, I prefer Andrea.
