Answer:	It might work with a light weight iron on an ironing board. But in spite the mysteriously glowing reviews on Amazon, I found this to be a very poor product for its type and regret buying it. It is a thin silicone--the ribs squish down flat when you put any really heavy object on it. The whole idea of the ribs is to keep air circulating beneath the ribs for cooling, and this pad just doesn't do well with a heavy pan or pot. I would never put a heavy hot item on one of these on a counter top or table.
