I'm a practicing ophthalmologist x 30 years. Our professional society does NOT recommend sunglasses for preventive care of the eyes, since the evidence of any benefit is tenuous at best, and certainly there is sound evidence suggesting that there is no benefit.Consider that our cornea prevents the passage of UVA into the eye, and that the lens blocks UVB.Do wear sunscreen.These sunglasses are reasonably stylish, and for a fairly inexpensive plastic lens are of good optical quality (a fancy way of saying that I can see through them very clearly). The polarized feature is a must have for my sunglasses; the reading lens is a nice bonus. All this at a disposable price compared to polarized prescription bifocals.And yes, they come with a case. I lost my first pair (they jumped off the front seat when I left my car unlocked in a parking lot...) and ordered another. Enjoy. Hope this helps.
