For broad (non-mmWave) 5G support in the US you'll need bands n5 (AT&T), n41 (Sprint, now T-Mobile), or n71 (T-Mobile). (Verizon uses only mmWave, read on). For fast "line of sight" 5G support in the US you'll need bands n260 and n261 (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon). These bands require you to be in "line of sight" to a tower, typically only available in uban centers. Also they require special antennae all around the phone to avoid being obstructed by your hands, and this makes the phone several hundred dollars more expensive. Sony announced an Xperia PRO, with similar specs to the 1 ii, which will have these antennae and work with AT&T's 5G.
