I popped the screen protector out and use a tempered glass screen protector from zagg.com. lifetime warranty. I've broken mine but saved my actual screen many many times. You buy the screen protector once for like 15 for the basic one and any time you need to replace it you pay 3.99 in shipping and they send you the new one with a postage paid envelope to mail the old one back. You just have to make sure you register it asap, and I had a code on a receipt from Verizon, where turns out it cost over twice as much as the zagg.com website. (Verizon charged me $40!), so definitely order that from them. But the otterbox defender is the best. The only thing that's been able to withstand me, my job, my clumsiness, or my black hole of a purse.
