Answer:	Pretty much as long as it doesn't land directly on its screen. The case is pretty bulky so when I've accidentally dropped it, it's always hit the material some how. The edges are protected as well.

Answer:	I would not use this thread on any fabric. It is cheap, breaks easily and it is not usable on my sewing machine. The spool hole is way too big to fit most sewing machines so the tension was never right. It looks pretty but it's not worth the money spent because you can't use it.
