| Answer: | Weatherproof cables don't last - I have had my system for 5 months and run 3 weatherproof cables outside under my house eve for about 2 feet and not directly in the weather/rain/snow. But I get charging faults and have to buy all new cables and chargers for them after a heavy rain. Somehow even though I put silicone around the area where the cable hooks to the camera to keep the water out - water still gets in and causes a charging fault. I have 2 cameras that has happened to. I am getting to where I am beginning to hate this system - even though I have spent over $1000 on it. I'm so tempted to throw it in the trash can... but $1000 is a lot of money to burn up that way. They will never get another dime from me. I'd look at other camera systems. Be sure you read ALL the reviews here - too many problems and absolutely NO customer service. Also their weblink that are supposed to help you are broken - you can't even reset your password because of broken links. You can't view the action when you get an alert because by the time you log on, have to go through the "new adobe flash" message, the action is over. Perps are either gone or inside your house. |

| Answer: | Technically, YES. Hate to contradict the Netgear rep, but it works for me, like this. I connect the solar charger to the camera but leave the battery installed. With just a few hours of sun each day the battery cycles between 90-100%, and all the optional functions including continuous recording work. If I unplug the sole charger I then get warnings that certain features won’t work. So even if the trickle charge alone isn’t enough to run the camera, it’s been plenty to keep the battery at nearly full to full charge and the camera behaves as if it’s plugged in to wall power. |

| Answer: | Ha! Funny you should ask this. I had the same question and submitted it to FLIR tech support. I got back the answer that you could. But my question was, would doing it harm the device? My second question never received an answer. I have verified that yes, the FLIR will charge from pocketjuice and can be used at the same time. Whether or not it diminishes the onboard battery's life I cannot say. I am inclined to say no, it shouldn't harm it. There is an app that uses the camera as a baby monitor. I cannot see how that would be feasible without having the camera on an external power source. So the answer is yes, if you are using the camera while plugged into a external charger, it will extend the use time. I cannot 100% guarantee that it is not harmful but think not. |
