Answer:	Yes it came with instructions. But basically try to hang on a house, tree or post, at least 12 feet off the ground, away from branches that predators could use. Away from bright lights and noise. Water like a pond or bird bath ideal nearby. Should get at least a few hours of sunlight, South or east facing ideal. They will defecate so keep that in mind... Answer:	My extensive relationships with little brown bats tells me there won't be much need to "clean" the house. They tend to be pretty clean little things and they pretty much poop so their stuff falls out the bottom. However, if you feel the need to clean out the house, knock yourself out. A product called "Guano be Gone" used with some agua and elbow grease would probably yield your desired result. Watch your elbows.

Answer:	It will be okay for PA, but the dark stained version (follow the link below) will increase the chances for bats to during cool seasons because the darker color draws more heat from the sun. Answer:	Bat poo is an excellent fertilizer. It's known as guano and may be bought at plant nurseries. It's rather expensive. Like worm castings, you only need a small amount per plant. I'm a gardener and would consider it a benefit for my garden. I just wouldn't handle it with my bare hands.
Question:	where do the bats go in winter? i live in maryland
Answer:	Some bats hibernate during the winter, usually in caves or mines (or attics), while others migrate to warmer areas where there would be more insects on which to feed. If you have the internet, search for bats that hibernate or migrate. There is plenty of info on bats out there and they are good to have around.
Question:	I just read that cedar bat house being aromatic wood need to air out for 2 to 4 years for the oils to dry and dissipate before bats move in. True
Answer:	I think 2-4 years is a little excessive, though I have read research which indicates that the smell of cedar may deter in-habitation. It is for that reason that I also offer a select grade pine version. The select grade lumber has no knots, therefore no sap and no odor. My cedar bat houses are made of western red cedar, not eastern red (aromatic) cedar. Aromatic cedar is what is commonly used to line closets and chests to deter moths and has a much stronger odor. Western Red Cedar does have an odor, and may take a few months to "air out". The vast majority of bat houses sold commercially are made of some sort of cedar, and do successfully attract and house bats. Kind of a long winded answer, if you are still interested in avoiding cedar check out my pine version. I'm currently only offering pine with a dark stain finish which will work for most U.S. climates. Question:	i just bought 2 of these and i was reading that cedar has such a strong smell that bats will not come for a few years. how true is this
Answer:	It has a “distressed” look but no chips. It does give it a beautiful look.

Answer:	This bird bath is very fragile. I put mine out too soon last year and we had a light freeze and what little ice there was shattered the bowl. My wife really liked it so I ordered another one and used the base as a stand for a gazing ball. That way it matched the bird bath when I got it.
