User questions & answers

Question: I have seen darkfield add-ons that cost $600. How does this microscope do the same thing for half the cost of a darkfield addon? What am I missing
Answer: The 'AmScope DK-DRY100 Dry Darkfield Condenser For Compound Microscopes' cost $90 on ebay. This scope offers it as at a price break, but it is nowhere near $600. BTW, it works quite well and is a blast to use.
Question: Does anyone know where i can get a manual for my brand new amscope t340b-dk-led? it seems as though no one supplies manuals for their products anymore
Answer: Hi Mike, We have since moved to digital. Please contact us directly, and I will get that to you ASAP. Thanks again,
Question: can a camera be installed so we can see it in computer screen
Answer: Yes, an AmScope camera works wonderfully well. I bought an AmScope MU500 5MP USB Microscope Digital Camera which allows real time viewing on a computer screen, still images, and the ability to do videos. Some stills taken with the camera can be seen here (exactly what you see on the computer screen, down sized a bit) ... http://www.pbase.com/coraltown/micro_world ... and an example edited video here ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FghRk7JASNk (again, exactly what you see on the computer screen).
Question: What is the product weight without the packaging and the longest dimension in each x and y axis
Answer: Dear Customer, thank you for asking a question. When fully assembled, the height is 18 inches, width is 11 inches, and the total weight is 10 LBS without packaging. Please feel free to ask again if you have another question.

User questions & answers

Question: Is only darkfield
Answer: It is brightfield by default and comes with a darkfield condensor.
Question: Do you have a led model of this
Answer: There is another T490 B LED model. Just have to be sure it has the same add-ons. Darkfield my half to be purchased separately. For LED models 3 watts equals similar light output to 30 watts halogen. By the way the high magnification objective lens on this and most other microscopes requires a drop of oil placed over the slide to achieve the proper focus.
Question: Iam wanting to view blood cells, large enough to see definition and detail easily. Will the T490B-DK Compound ...Microscope do this for me
Answer: Here is what did with it a buyer of microscope, i bought it also but i did not put blood but just yeast. https://www.flickr.com/photos/62498250@N02/sets/72157633935302112/

User questions & answers

Question: can i view gemstones that are on bracelets, necklaces and rings or do they need to be loose
Answer: You can view gemstones in their settings however bracelets or necklaces with a solid or semisolid, band are always problematic on any microscope because of the issues viewing the stones through the table. Flexible bracelets and necklaces that lie flat are no problem unless the settings don't allow light through the pavilion in which case lighting is a little tricky no matter what you use. Solid band bracelets and necklaces require a different stand that allows you to hang the piece vertically so it can be rotated as you view the different stones.
Question: Is a gem tweezer (which can be fixed to the stage) included in the box as shown in the picture
Answer: Yes, it is included as the picture shows.
Question: Do they send good instructions (more than basic focusing) as one person said
Answer: That's right, very basic if I remember correctly. It has been a while since I bought the scope.
Question: Im thinking on buying this scope. im a gemologist , would it do the job of showing inclusions for clarity grading? does the lower light show inclusion
Answer: Yes! We bought it for that purpose and have been very pleased with it. We use the upper predominantly but the lower light works too.

User questions & answers

Question: I wish to use this to view bacteria, protozoa, fungal in a water solution at 400X with a series 150 AMScope. Will this work? Should I order the wet
Answer: I got the 2000x scope w/cam I still not happy Apparently 2000X is the max possible in optics unless you go to $10K-one million and build a cement basement Electron scope. I would recommend getting nothing less than the max. A complex science-- you'll be forced to choose 3D-Camera-computer program etc. Good luck! I did see little guys swimming in bad water, but you won't get the stuff you see on TV it takes a lot or money. I know a guy who can see this good stuff but he has a million $ and you can't walk near the scope. It always helps to do more research buy some books and read Wikipedia My scope will adj. contrast
Question: This dk-dry100 seems does not fit on the t490 microscope. It is so tight, it can not be pushed to its correct position
Answer: Contact AmScope Technical Support. be prepared to send them a photo of Serial Number of scope and condenser in "stuck" position. Apparently there has been a change in the scope and you (like me) have an older version. I had that problem and they sent me a different mounting ring for the scope.
Question: Will this work on an amscope me580 compound microscope with a 30 watt transmitted light source
Answer: I have one and it works for what I need. I think with some playing around it should work for most compound microscopes that Amazon sells but don't hold me to it.
Question: what is this device used for
Answer: it shines oblique rays through the microscope specimen as to make them more visible because the specimen has a refraction index close to that of water. its dry so no oil is needed but does lose some focus because it doesn't use oil
