User questions & answers
Question: | I have carried one of these in my pocket since 1976. i want to get a couple more for gifts. mine is made by americans. are they still made in usa |
Answer: | The blades do not lock like a switchblade where a button is pushed to open. But they each click to a "semi-locked" position when fully opened. |
Question: | how long is the blade |
Answer: | Well i am very pleased with the clip on this knife. It might look flimsy but it is actually quite durable and strong. I have been using knife consistently for around 1 and half years or so and I have had no problems. |
Question: | Does it come with a belt sheath |
Answer: | While the Blade has 3 U.S. Patents stated, the actual product's packaging states "Made in Taiwan". |
Question: | Is this knife engravable |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Do the blades lock open |
Answer: | I'm not sure. But my best answer would be no. I did have to tighten the screws on the clip at first but they did not strip. I would use light pressure if you are worried. I can't seem to find my knife at the moment but when I do I will update the answer. |
Question: | How strongly is the belt clip attached? looks just like s&w border guard that was absolutely flimsy! came out with a slight push |
Answer: | Not sure what scales are celluloid. This is a pocket knife. Hope this has been helpful. |
Question: | where is this made in |
Answer: | It is just a folder. |
Question: | Does schrade make a none serrated blade with spring assist In tanto blade |
Answer: | The blades are made of 9cr18mov stainless steel which contains .85-..95% carbon, so technically it is high carbon steel. |
Question: | will the screws strip easily |
Answer: | They are made in China and other overseas locations. But, they are NOT owned by the Chinese! The original Imperial Schrade went bankrupt in 2004, the intellectual rights, but not the factories were bought by Taylor Brands LLC of Tennessee. Who offshored production. In 2016 Smith & Wesson’s Battenfeld Technologies division bought Taylor Brands. Not sure of Smith & Wesson’s intentions on resuming any USA production. |
Question: | Are the scales really celluloid |
Answer: | Box states 'Made in China'. |
Question: | Is it a lockblade knife or just a folder |
Answer: | It's called a castration/spey blade--depending on maker My great-grandfather used the one on his old Case Stockman for castrating hogs. I myself use it for cutting plastic films used to wrap many products. It can also be used to skin sheathing off wire--for the past few years, my grandfather has used a bander for castrating livestock---rendering this blade obsolete for the intended purpose. My advice--don't buy these Chinese ones, buy a good used American made knife for the same price--I paid $5 for the used 1970s USA made Imperial Stockman I have. The Chinese ones are very poor quality compared to Schrade products made in the USA or Ireland. I've got an Uncle Henry version I got as a gift of this I never even took out of the box. |
Question: | Are the blade made of high carbon steel |
Answer: | If it costs over a hundred dollars and is 3 inch long look carefully it might be made in the USA. There are some really good knives made in Guatemala by a company that was originally German -- they are made in America ... but Central not North. |
Question: | Are these still made in the u.s.a. ? thanks james |
Answer: | I'm no expert but I use carborundum on any type of blade. I think any type of sharpening system will work on any blade but like I said I'm no expert |
Question: | What is the country of origin/manufacture for this knife |
Answer: | Taylor Brands, LLC purchased the company and sells SCHRADE, IMPERIAL, UNCLE HENRY, OLD TIMER, SMITH & WESSON, as well as others. Their products are well made of high quality materials. I sell them all and use them all. Thank you,Ron BordelonLagniappes |
Question: | what is the blade on the far left for |
Answer: | When storing you can leave the blade half or more open to stretch the lock spring. also it should loosen with daily use. |
Question: | how can you tell if a knife is made in america |
Answer: | Made in China. |
Question: | What type of whet stone should be used to sharpen the stainless blade? Thanks |
Answer: | No, I have tried to find a pocket knife made in USA, but so far I haven't. I wish Amazon had a sort option to only show products made in USA. |
Question: | The internet says Scrade closed years ago. Did someone buy trademark |
Answer: | This is a small pen knife. Closed it is 2 1/2" and 4 1/2" with longest blade open. I LOVE this knife! Fits perfectly in the watch pocket in Levis! Hope this helps. |
Question: | Is there a way too make it easier to open |
Answer: | No it doesn't. The blades just fold open and closed but doesn't lock in place. Locking knifes normally only have one blade in them. |
Question: | What country is this made in |
Answer: | Knife is 3 1/4" inches closed. Actually great little knife that I carry on my walker. Made a sheath for the main blade so that I can leave it open. One of my most useful tools, and I use it several times a day. ! |
Question: | is this made in usa |
Answer: | Go into the settings and turn them on |
Question: | How long is the knive all together |
Answer: | I am sorry I don't know. Our Wii quit can't find replacement |
Question: | Does this blade have a lock |
Answer: | I don't konw which Wii I have and it works with it, however that game is terrible. Ball striking is not at all natural. Putting is reality bad. We don't play that game anymore. If you can find one, Wii Sport Resort golf is much more realistic |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it lock |
Answer: | It looks like they are making them in China these days like everything else my original one was made in Germany witch they make good cutlery. But everything now of days it is in china to reduce labor costs but I think if Trump gets his way he may force these companies to bring manufacturing back to the good old USA or you are going to pay more for Chinese goods if they do not level the playing field and make economically not feasible for companies to continue to manufacture over there. |
Question: | How long is this knife closed |
Answer: | the blade is 2 3/16" in length it is a very handy pocket knife if you run into a small job to use it for. Which I have found on numerous occasions but if you are looking for something larger then you may need differrent knife for that job. this knife comes with a very good sharp edge on it and holds its edge well and will resharpen well. but as in everything you evaluate it depends on the type of job you have in mind for this knife or any other knife if this is the right tool for the job the only other thing I can add about this knife is that it is easy to carry around with you and you really do not notice you have it while you are carrying it around and you might consider that one element. I hope this helps you out on selecting a good knife this is a good pocket knife. robert collier |
Question: | Does this knife have a half stop |
Answer: | no belt sheath, just the knife. |
Question: | Is it American |
Answer: | It’s possible, but only initials. Small surface area on handle would work, but it is a small knife. Love it though. Very sharp and locks open so as nut to close on your hand. |
