They do not personally test on animals, but they sell products in countries like China that require testing on animals and as such cannot be considered cruelty-free by organizations like Peta or Leaping Bunny. Answer:	I'm in this same age range and in the AM I start with the CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser, then apply their vitamin c serum, or hyaluronic acid serum. I finish with the CeraVe moisturizing cream in the tub on my face and neck. In the PM I use the same cleanser followed by their retinol serum (3-4 times per week only), then the same moisturizer. If you want a lighter moisturizer, use the PM nighttime lotion. So far this routine is working very well for my skin. I was using high end products that had fragrance in them which over time I developed a sensitivity to and ultimately turned my face red and extremely dry. CeraVe saved my skin. Hope this helps. :)

When you are talking about L'Ascorbic Acid this can be true because L'Ascorbic Acid requires a very low pH to be stable, and niacinamide a bit higher (5+). Our Vitamin C is derived from Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which is a highly stable form of Vitamin C and requires a higher pH, as niacinamide. This is why we are able to successfully make the combination. Hope this helps!
Question:	I'm looking for a product for my dry, flaky facial skin. I see "cetyl alcohol" in the ingredients. Doesn't "alcohol" dry out theskin
Answer:	I googled this about cetyl alcohol. "Cetyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol used as an emulsion stabilizer and opacifier, adding body and viscosity to creams and lotions, and improving texture and feel with its characteristic velvety texture. It imparts emollient properties to formulations due to its absorption and retention in the epidermis where it lubricates and softens the skin. Useful in creams, lotions, and scrubs; it can also be used to increase the melt point and improve the texture of whipped butters and lotion bars." All that said, I wouldn't choose this cream for dry, flaky skin...it seemed a little thin to me (which I like as I'm using other products as well). I encourage you to check out cetyl alchohol; it sounds like it actually enhances lotion's ability to moisturize by forming a barrier that water can't penetrate thereby preventing dry skin. Just my two cents. I hope it helps and that you find a great lotion for your skin.

Answer:	Instead of an ingredients list the product label states what isn't in it. "100% VEGAN...Formulated without fragrance, colorants, preservatives. Enriched with Community Trade aloe vera. Dermatologically tested." Then it goes on to tout the product in various languages. That's really all I can help with. I do love the cream. I use it every day. My 88 years of skin is dry but with very few wrinkles which are not deep but are noticeable before I apply the cream but much less so after. I leave it on for about 5 minutes then gently pat off any excess. Within a short time it soaks in without any oily residue. I used to use The Body Shop's day cream with vitamin E until about two years ago. When I phoned to ask why it no longer agreed with my skin, the answer was that they changed the formula. That's when I switched to the day cream with aloe vera.

Answer:	They are two different types of product, so this is akin to asking if an apple or an orange is better. A cream is typically more oil-based, and is designed to absorb and create a protective barrier on skin once it is applied. A serum is typically more water-based, and is therefore designed to penetrate deeply and, often, quickly into the skin, allowing a cream to be put on top of it to "lock in" the ingredients. Many people think that the word "cream" or "serum" define a product's consistency, but that is not true (it has nothing to do with consistency, it has to do with product type). Answer:	In response to the list of ingredients someone noted: I do not see vitamin C listed. Vitamin E was written in lay-man terms (very far into the ingredient list), but L-AA, MAP, or SAP weren't listed (not that the latter two have clinically proven results anyway). If you are reading this look into another product. Vitamin C should be one for the first 3 ingredients in order for it to actually be of any value, ingredients are listed in the percentage they are used. P.S. if the boasted ingredient is ever listed 5th on an ingredient list, the likelihood that the content could be anywhere close to 20% is negligible. In order for an ingredient to be 20% and listed 5th all ingredients would have to have a content percentage tie.
