I have used Emu Oil for probably about 20 years. One time I (stupidly) grabbed the handle of a pan I had had in the oven and immediately iced my burned hand until the burning stopped, then IMMEDIATELY loaded my hand with Emu Oil--several times--and I did NOT end up with burn damage--or pain, to my skin. My thoughts are that since Emu Oil is suppose to be similar to our own body oil, if we replace what the sun (or oven-hot pans) burns (which is our skin's body oil), fast enough that the heat doesn't get to damage our skin's body's oil, we have prevented the burn.
