Hi there, thanks for your question! I believe that some of the light is indeed reflected but I don't believe it works the same as the direct wavelengths hitting your skin. I would think that the reflection would be weakened a lot, resulting in an uneven treatment. With that being said, the irradiance is so high on our panel, especially from 6 inches and 12 inches that you really only need a couple of minutes on each side of your body so in the interest of getting an even and effective treatment, I would just do a couple of minutes per side of your body :) it shouldn't take very long at all to get an effective dose of light from the HG1500.
