Answer:	A glass cutter does not actually "cut glass". It is used to score the glass creating a weak point on the surface of the glass. Then using a tool like a running pliers it cause the glass to break along the score line. Thus the glass breaks from one end to the other. The thick of the glass does not matter. It will no work on safety glass. It does not work the way you see people using them in the movies!

Answer:	I have used my foil cutters on both soft- and hard-wax seals on bottles with varying degrees of success. How thick and how brittle the wax is seems to affect how well the foil cutter works for this purpose. Soft wax seals often, but not always, have pull tabs to help make it easier to remove. Hard/brittle wax can be a complete pain sometimes, but scoring the wax with a cutter can occasionally help. So, to make a long answer short, maybe. The small knife-style foil cutter may be better suited for your needs.

Answer:	It does appear to "stretch" a bit, but I am not sure what you mean by larger format wine bottles. I thought all wine bottles measured the same when it came to corks!!

Question:	Are the "blades" replaceable
Answer:	The one described as "black nickel" is metal. It has a nice heft to it and is well made and functions very nicely. However, there is also a plastic version that is cheaper. It works fine, but it looks and feels cheaper and is, by reputation, less durable. When I ordered the metal one, the vendor sent me the plastic one. I complained, rather unpleasantly, and the vendor blamed its supplier for the mix-up and put it right by sending me the metal one and telling me I could keep the plastic one for my trouble or return it for a full refund - meaning I would have received the metal one free. As I didn't think getting the metal one gratis was really warranted as compensation for the annoyance, I chose the option of keeping the plastic one. That is how I know it works just fine. I know it is considered less durable because I read reviews of it that said it didn't hold up well. I would also point out one other piece of advice. The arrangement of the cutting blades requires only a quarter turn of the device to cut the foil in its full circumference, after which you have steel on glass, which will dull the blades faster, so you should use ONLY a quarter turn. All in all, I've been quite pleased with it so far.

Answer:	Yes, I put it square on top of the bottle, put the bottle on a paper towel and turn the bottle, there is a nice clean cut.

Answer:	The blades are mounted/attached with phillips screws, so yes, they can be replaced. I have owned this for a long time and plenty of use and have not had the need to replace the blades though.
