One tip I have is to not take the needle out first and then try to get the jewelry in. Instead push the needle almost completely through the hole and set the jewelry against the back end of the needle. Then use the jewelry to push the needle the rest of the way through while slipping the jewelry into place. I've done five piercings with this kit so far and all were super easy doing it like this.
