THIS was pretty waterproof. I couldn't wash it off with water. I had to get to a restroom and wash with soap and water to get it off my skin. My eyes burned for days afterward. I never used it again.

Answer:	I did not experience this. I have been using the mascara for awhile now and have nothing but good to say about it. There is very little odor when I open it and I am "scent" sensitive. I suggest you return it for an exchange. Don't give up on this. Hope this helps and works out.

Answer:	I don't find it to be flaky at all...maybe when it gets past the three month mark. I like that it doesn't make my lashes stiff. I usually use this product for weekends because it doesn't go on heavy (just Full 'n Soft!). Hope this helps!

Also, try Exact Eyelights from Cover Girl but be careful that it's not the waterproof one. I LOVE that mascara. It's never smudged on me!

Answer:	This may be an issue with washable version vs waterproof because the washable I wear is a dream to put on in a few strokes and comes off with a dab of tear free baby shampoo or Mary Kay oil free makeup remover (that seems rather oily?) Its never been ever clumpy and the brush comes out of the tube crystal clean except for a dab on the tip that you wipe on the rim, instead of a glob of mascara to wipe and swipe off. Unlike like Exhibitionist mascara, although a great mascara, once you wipe the gobs of it off of the brush before you apply it. Lash Sensation takes under 5 swipes to get full, soft, long, and curled lashes. Curls that lasts all day without an eyelash curler because the wand acts like a perfectly fitted cup that lifts and separate your lashes, in that “every defined lash” way, not the “spider look” way. The fullness is a kind of false lash look too, but soft lashes, not the fake stiff lashes way. I have sparse short lashes due to my thyroid disease, but every time, without fail that I wear this mascara, (I like to wear different colored mascaras on different days), I get the same comments...”oh wow mom, your eyes look really good today”. I love it that it don’t have to keep checking a mirror too, to see if I have splotches of mascara that looks like black hands reaching up from my eyes, haha. My prominent brow bone gets a lot of action from mascaras that smudge, usually the waterproof ones that remove with oils. The washable version of this doesn’t flake or smudge. I wish they made a brown in it though for blondes like me, so I can fool people into thinking these are my lashes! Expert Tips

1) Always replace your mascara every 3 months. This is the most hygienic replenishment time for all eye makeup products. Plus, it ensures your mascara never gets too dry and clumpy.

2) Always let mascara set (but not dry!) between applications. Two coats of mascara should always be applied, but never more than that. Wait 10 seconds for formula to set before applying second coat so lashes won't clump.

3) Never apply before liner. Your fresh coats of mascara will smudge and clump together if you apply liner after mascara. Applying mascara before liner also prevents you from being able to get as close to the lash line as possible. Remember - liner first, then two coats of mascara!

Question:	What is the difference between regular and extensions mascara
Answer:	Don't know what mink extensions are, but I would not recommend this product. It not only clumps, but within hours is flakes off your eyelashes.

Answer:	This mascara was manufactured in January 2016. You definitely have to look at expiration date before purchasing the product. You do not want to get one close to expiration because it will be dry that is just the circle of life with the product. Hope this helps.

Question:	Is this the real thing, or a knock off
Answer:	I love and use l'Oreal Voluminous mascara exclusively, but I have found that on me the Carbon Black does smudge. Using the primer helps, but I avoid this color. I haven't experienced smudging with any other color and right now am using brownish black. It's a nice daytime color. (the Carbon Black is a great color for dramatic nighttime use, and it may not smudge on you! Worth a try!).

Answer:	I have bought this many times . It is dark and not to much difference then the black one. I personally think the color is great.
Question:	I have been buying and using this waterproof black mascara for years but recently the mascara started to smudge after 3 hours. Why
Answer:	The difference is the type of pigment that is used. Traditional mascaras use different oxidation states of iron oxides (black, red, and yellow with the red and yellow being only used in the brown shade). In carbon black the black iron oxide pigment is replaced with a carbon compound that has a much deeper more obsidian appearance. Black iron oxides are naturally occurring minerals and vary on the shade their "blackness" where the carbon black is much more consistently deep black.
