Answer:	I dont think so, but it will wear out faster. Also because it exfoliates you may get overly dry/raw. They do suggest to boil for good clean so I would try that once a week if looks clogged or icky

Answer:	You can adjust how much the needles protrude by turning the forward part of the machine. The black band is where it can turn. Mine was on tight when it was delivered. The spec says it adjust from 0 to 4.5 mm.
