It seems to fit better if it doesn't cover several teeth, but just the first molar. This is like other mouth guards I have used....they tend to misalign my teeth, which float back where there supposed to be. I really do not know how that can be good for my teeth, and I probably still grind my teeth on the spacer, just not against each other. I have gotten sensitive teeth because of grinding, and I do wonder if you still grind on plastic, will the sensitivity go away or am you stuck with it? A question for my dentist next time.

Answer:	You can use before eating. The benzocaine will block pain for about 20 minutes. Apply shortly before eating. It shouldn't leave an unpleasant taste or interact with your food shortly after application.

Answer:	If you leave it against the painful area long enough- it goes numb like when the dentist gives you a shot before drilling. For me the result lasted an hour or more which allowed me to get to sleep.
